Strange hobbies

Soon at the library, we’ll be hiring three new pages. One of those positions will be the position I’m vacating come May when I become full-time. I was thinking about how long it’ll take to train them and how their training might go more smoothly if they had some handy reference cheat-sheets to carry around so that they will feel more confident about their new jobs. Therefore, as librarianship Continue reading

Terrifying

In a terrifyingly short amount of time, I should be finished with Book Three. Scary. This is the novel that I started writing during NaNoWriMo and managed to get just over 100,000 words written during the month of November. I’m now up to 131,135 words and have only two and a half chapters to write. That basically tells you how much of it was completed during the event Continue reading

Rook, the Editor

Since Rook has been up at our place all week to spend his spring break enjoying high speed internet, he has been here since I got my copy of Two Minds Are Better Than One. Not long after opening the package and marveling at the wonder of having my own book in my hands (not like the thesis which was homework before it was a book), Rook grabbed the novel and started Continue reading

Published again!

It’s crazy, but I’ve published yet another book. 🙂 This one is the Zombie Cookbook that I started last fall. The text has been done for a few days now, and I’ve spent the weekend drawing pictures and having Ian edit them to put in the document. Mind you, I draw like crap, but the images are cartoony and supposed to look kind of stupid. Therefore, I guess it’s all right. Ian made the cover Continue reading

Titles

I stink at titles. I really do. I just can’t come up with titles for ninety percent of the things that I write. In my creative writing classes, I had to come up with titles for my short stories and poems (and when you’ve got over three hundred poems, that’s a LOT of titles!) and always felt that whatever I came up with just fell short. My titles weren’t witty or insightful or even altogether that Continue reading

DONE!

Sweet! I finished typing up the last chapter of Book One tonight! Or was it last night? This daylight savings thing has my system off as I try to remember whether I’ve switched all the clocks or not. Regardless, Book One is all typed up! At the moment, it is 277 pages. Those aren’t the typical pages that a word processor creates with 8.5″ x 11″ pages. These are pages for a 6″ x 9″ Continue reading

Happy birthday, Tommy!

Today is Tommy’s 27th birthday! Woohoo! We texted back and forth for a while after I wished him a happy birthday, and he seemed to have a good day. He did some walking and running and ate some strawberry cake. Sounds like a good day to me, minus the running. 😉 My poor, arthritic knees couldn’t handle that! I have been trying to get on the elliptical for a while on the days when Continue reading

Two chapters away!

Sweet! I’m two chapters away from having all of Book One typed up! I just finished chapter 21, and there are only chapters 22 and 23 to type up yet. That’s pretty exciting. 🙂 There will still be a couple weeks of going back through all my notes to make sure everything’s squared away with matters of consistency, rewritten scenes, and name changes then all the editing itself. So far, I’m Continue reading

Work on Book 1

I’ve been doing a lot of typing lately. I had been thinking about picking up Book 3 again and typing up some more content, but I knew that I’d have to go back and re-read the entire document before getting a feel for it again. I’ve been watching The Next Generation a lot lately though and am almost done, so I didn’t want to stop to read a lengthy document before finishing Continue reading

Getting close now

I’ve been working off and on on the Zombie Cookbook, adding a recipe now and then, doing some editing once in a while, and occasionally doodling a graphic or two. Today being a patch day for WoW and my day off, I decided to try and add some more recipes and work more intently upon the formatting. There are still about fifteen recipes that I need to type up including Continue reading
