10 Year Anniversary

I know I haven’t updated in about two weeks, but I’ll deal with that later. Right now, all I want to do is announce that today is Ian and my ten year anniversary. Yup, ten years. And while that may sound kind of long, believe me that ten years isn’t nearly enough time to spend with a guy as great as Ian. So here’s ten times ten reasons why I love him so much: Continue reading

Domestic

On a recent shopping trip to Wally World, Ian and I got fairly domestic. I’m not sure how it started–probably something to do with the fact that we’ve been meaning to get a new salt shaker/pepper mill set–but once we got on a housewares kick, we had a hard time stopping. To be honest, the way in which we’ve accumulated kitchen utensils and appliances is rather Continue reading

The Mad Lib

OK, I have pretty much all the nouns, verbs, etc. that I need, and I’ll fill in where I need more with some of the words my students used in their own French mad libs (translated into English, of course, though it would be funny to use them straight from French as well). The following is the beginning of the Bible, aka Genesis. Ian and I decided to use this rather than a passage from Continue reading

Mad Lib Update

OK, so I’ve got a bunch of words from Dad and Miller, and I’ve figured out how many of each type of word I still need. So I need 17 nouns, 9 verbs, 4 adjectives, 2 person’s names, 2 prepositions, 1 animal, and 1 number. I figure what I’ll do once I’ve got plenty is put them in at random and see how it turns up. So far just using Dad and Miller’s words is hilarious. I can’t wait Continue reading

Enter the Huntress

I haven’t been sleeping all that well lately, thanks to stress and so forth, and so being awake last night around 2:30 am wasn’t odd. I was fairly close to drifting off when I heard clamoring from the other end of the hallway. At first, I thought it was Kitty having trouble getting out of her new litterbox (It is rather deep.), but then she came thundering down the hallway, nails grating across Continue reading

Mad Lib

After much sleep and pain killers, I’m up and moving again. We’ll see how long this lasts once we start playing DnD tonight, but for now while I’m functional again, I wanted to play a game. This started with my 200-level French classes. I wanted a way to review all the major grammar points for the five chapters we covered this semester without having to do a long week of boring Continue reading

Dead!

Dead week is now over. I’ve got three finals Monday, one Tuesday, and one Wednesday. That may not seem like a whole lot, but believe me, it’ll be a long time yet before the semester is all over. Today was really friggin’ long too. It’s bad enough that I went to bed at three after having written three finals and graded a ton of papers, but I barely ate (Peanut butter crackers count, Continue reading

Aardvark

The week is nearly over. That means next week will come quickly, and hopefully it will go as quickly as it arrives. My brain’s pretty fried. I referred to my cell phone as an “aardvark” yesterday for some odd reason, and then in class I couldn’t even remember the word “concert” when trying to describe a situation where a lot of people get together and listen to music. Yup. Continue reading

En feu

Well, just to update quickly from this weekend, I thought I’d post quickly before having to return to making up study guides and final exams as well as a pile of grading which is only going to get bigger come Friday. At any rate! Sunday night while the husband and I were relaxing from the long car trips back and forth, we heard someone banging on our back door, which is really Continue reading

Moo weekend

Phew, OK, this weekend is almost over. I know most people look forward to their week being over, but I’m just looking forward to anything being over that will let me relax a bit. See, the ‘rents went to the big sis’ place for the Big Three’s first communion, leaving Simon and Tommy in LGT. Simon asked to come up to the Haute for the weekend. So Friday, the husband and I left Continue reading
