Moo weekend

Phew, OK, this weekend is almost over. I know most people look forward to their week being over, but I’m just looking forward to anything being over that will let me relax a bit. See, the ‘rents went to the big sis’ place for the Big Three’s first communion, leaving Simon and Tommy in LGT. Simon asked to come up to the Haute for the weekend. So Friday, the husband and I left soon after I got off work to grab the little bro. We stopped for gas at Wally World, using up two old gift cards that were taking up space in my wallet considering how little was on them. We grabbed KFC on the way down which was good. I like those crazy bowls. Once we got to LGT, we were going to invite Tommy up as well, but he wasn’t here and we wanted to get back to the Haute before it got dark, so we just came back up. We had considered staying in LGT rather than coming all the way back up (and thus spending twice the amount of gas money), but Simon really wanted to come up here rather than stay there. So here it was. First we drove to Uncle Andy’s to pick up Simon’s screwed-up computer, then we left for home. Oddly, we hit the same KFC on the way back up so Simon could get chicken strips. We got to the Haute late so I went to bed kind of early leaving Ian up to fix Simon’s crazy computer.

I spent part of Saturday trying to figure out DnD experience from last week as well as reading up on the next locations in the current module. Then I putzed around with some crocheting trying to figure out what sort of afghan squares I like enough to make a ton of for a blanket for my cousin’s wedding in July (I’ve made about a half dozen oddly-colored and ill-formed rectangles and squares). Then I started feeling bad that I still haven’t finished the wedding present for my own sister, but I figure come May I’ll have more time and may be able to do both! Then I made cake because I found cake mix and icing with half as much sugar and wanted to see how they’d taste. Fairly decent, though the icing is a bit odd and always runny. Then came DnD with tons of girallons (think white gorilla with four arms) with several hours-long battles. I’ll figure up experience next week, maybe. Or the week after that. Since I got my bridesmaid dress for Jamie and Lushbaugh’s wedding Saturday afternoon, I tried it on after the game. It fits! I’ll have to take a picture or something at some point and put it up for you to see it. It’s black–Jamie’s favorite color–and I think the skirt is really cute. The top is odd because it’s lacy and looks like I’m naked underneath, hehe.

So after going to bed relatively late, I had crazy dreams about random stuff I’m glad I’ve since forgotten. After getting up, we took Simon to IHOP so he could get different chicken strips. The wait was only about twenty minutes as the crowds of church-goers packed the place. Simon wanted to get some more Manga books, so we hit Waldenbooks at the mall. Back at the apartment, we made Simon watch the latest South Park and Red vs. Blue. Not too much later, we packed the van, stopped for more gas and refreshments, then drove to LGT, Simon reading Manga the whole way and me grading papers most of the way along. Once at the house, we chit-chatted with Tommy a bit, made sure Simon’s computer was up and running, then headed into town to visit with the Doyles briefly. Mom was there, so we talked to her for a bit and were about to head out when I saw Dad’s red truck pull in. So we stuck around a bit later on their new reddish-brown loveseats before heading back to the Haute. We stopped for gas again, and oddly, the super unleaded was cheaper than the unleaded, so we got it. Simon called when we were passing Sullivan because his monitor went out. The video card is probably overheating, so we told him what to do and told him to call once he’d done it. Once in Terre Haute, we hit the store for supplies for tomorrow’s French pitch-in dinner then came home. Simon called as we pulled into the drive to ask about the computer again. Once inside, we opened the windows and grabbed some dinner and pestered the cat.

Now the first Harry Potter movie is on and I’m thinking about fixing some tea. See, I’ve got lesson plans to scratch out as well as a big pile of papers to finish grading, and then there’s a worksheet I need to type up. At some point tonight, I’d like to sleep, but I’d really rather get ahead on all this grading since I’m only going to get more to grade this week in addition to finals next week. Tomorrow night is going to be a waste since I’ll be at the pitch-in dinner all evening, and I’ll be getting up early Tuesday. I’ve gotta come up with something to do with my upper level classes since we’ve already finished their last chapter, and yet I’ve got only three days to finish nearly an entire chapter with my lower levels. Rrr. I also need to do some laundry tonight because I’m out of dress clothes and didn’t get to it this weekend just like I didn’t get to most of my grading, worksheets and posting on Blackboard (the classes’ website). I need some Advil. Or a sledgehammer to the skull. You may be seeing some rather irate posts this week, but they don’t call it “Dead Week” for nothing.

    Man:

Damn it I missed cutting gorilla meat. Fuck USPS. Thankfully miller sent me a link to the city's web page which has some positions I might be good for.
