So the fever was refusing to go away, the congestion and coughing were making every tiny ache exponentially worse, random organs were hurting, my eyes were stinging, my mouth and lips and skin were so dry I probably could have made for an excellent paper towel commercial, my dizziness and weakness were enough to simply keep me on the floor for random stretches of Continue reading
Still alive!
Hooray! Let’s celebrate the fact that Ian’s still alive after 29 years! (Hell, I’m impressed he’s still alive after nearly eleven years with me, but that’s not the point.) So Happy Birthday, Baby Doll! You’re snoring right now in the other room, but that’s OK ’cause you’re cute. To celebrate Ian’s birthday, we’re going to have cake and ice cream and sleep off and on all day. Uh, well, OK, the Continue reading
Sucky Saturday
Last night, the husband and I had a fun evening with Damien at Applebee’s then at his place playing Rock Band (or whatever it’s called). Upon getting home, I went to bed shortly and actually managed to sleep solidly through most of the night, a great feat for an insomniac for me. I guess I should have been suspicious of my lengthy sleep when I woke up, however, because I Continue reading
Singing
I always seem to have some song randomly running around my head like a horribly warped and insane soundtrack. Lately it has been one of a few songs: a stupid-ass jingle for idiotic sweet tea for McDonald’s because the damned commercial airs all the time on the radio station I listen to; Mr. Hanky the Christmas Poo; and Camptown Racers. Needless to say, I wish I could install a Continue reading
S words
I’ve noticed that the past several posts have all had titles beginning with the letter S. So, this post will be about a bunch of other things that begin with the letter S. Is there a good reason for this? No. Is there ever really a good reason for most of my posts? Again, no. Am I concerned about this? No, no, no, not at all. So at any rate, here are some things going on in my life that begin with Continue reading
Snow
It’s snowing. It was mostly flurries whenever I came home, but now it’s coming down a little harder in large light flakes that blow and billow in the gusting winds. I used to think Terre Haute was windy, but Jasper could give it a run for its money some days. Today’s not quite one of those days, but it’s windy enough that the snow is having trouble sticking to anything because it’s just Continue reading
Sugar
OK, so this rant is less about food that I’ve fixed or recipes or whatever and more to do with my body’s reactions to food, but who really pays attention to the category tags on this webpage anyway? At any rate, sugar. I don’t mind sugar. In fact, some of my favorite things have sugar in them in one way or another like ice cream. I like glucose, fructose, sucrose… I just have a sweet Continue reading
Sleet
I’m no longer coughing so much that I’m puking, which is nice. I’m coughing far less, but it’s still hard to sleep for some odd reason. As for today, I’m doing pretty decent considering that the crazy weather is giving me a headache and is making my joints act up. It snowed earlier today in Loogootee then stopped long enough for me to get home. The husband and I went out to do a Continue reading
Sick sick sick
It started around the fourth or fifth of the month. I woke up around four in the morning with a piercing earache in my left ear. It hurt so much that my sitting up and moving around woke Ian up, which is generally hard to do. The earache coincided with the beginning of a big thunderstorm, so I figured the storm was just messing with my system since crazy weather does that to me. The Continue reading
Pumpernickel #5
Befuddled, the boy brushed bits of bottle from his back and continued down the street. He was deep downtown now, walking in a haze. Everything that had been happening to him was racing through his young mind. After having been kicked out of class, out of school, and out of his house, he was wandering aimlessly down the street, moving simply for the sake of moving. Since Continue reading
