Well, the first presidential debate is over. We watched it on PBS ’cause I’ve always liked PBS and the arbiter (sp?) was from PBS anyway. It also didn’t have strange extras on the screen in the form of dials and meters. This being the first debate I’ve ever watched, I was interested to see what the format would be. I wondered if they’d just sit together and talk about issues, but I guess Continue reading
Caffeine versus water
I’ve been trying to drink less soda (though I love the taste of Mello Yello so much!) mostly because I have so many problems with heartburn, and caffeine and sugar both contribute to heartburn problems, not to mention all the acids in the soda. So less soda. I made an attempt at brewing mint tea then icing it, thinking it might work as a replacement for a cold drink (it’s hot Continue reading
Headaches
The past couple days have been filled with sporadic headaches. Generally I could attribute them to forgetting to eat, not having any caffeine in my system, or the weather fronts moving through. Yesterday’s, I believe, was due to all the time spent both on-line and on the phone. I spent the better part of an hour grumbling while taking office proficiency tests on-line for a local temp Continue reading
Chapter 12
I’m not going to get into the long, drawn-out explanation for why I’m up at four thirty in the morning because I don’t feel like it. Suffice it to say, I’m not asleep and as such had been spending my time trying to decide what to do with my non-sleeping time. After spending some time reading up on the subjunctive and conditional moods in English, in the end, I grabbed the Continue reading

Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day! Just some random tidbits about the week or day or whatever. Um, lessee, I made mint iced tea that isn’t totally horrifying (I, as a general rule, abhor iced teas). I’m about done with two pillowcases. I figured out that it takes fifteen minutes to do two rows on the green afghan pictured at the bottom of this post. Uh, my arms broke out in hives again totally Continue reading

I’d make more progress without the mosquitos or cat fur!
Greyness
Well, been a bit since I’ve updated. That happens. Lessee what’s been going on in the Doyle household. Friday night, Rook came over for some help with his economics homework. He and his group are making a miniature version of a theater, and he needed help making an arcade game and a popcorn machine. I’ve got the arts and crafts stuff and skill, so I helped him turn his design Continue reading
Funeral day
K, well now that I’m back at the house and with my computer, I can ramble on about yesterday. Ian and I got up early (way too early for the two of us nightowls) and got dressed up before heading out to his parents’ house in LGT. We were meeting up with them because we were going to ride with them to the funeral home in Washington where Ian’s Great-aunt Irma was. She had Continue reading

Pictures update
Tada! More pictures because I finally got around to it. 🙂 For starters, I have pictures of my new pet snail, Herbert. Technically, he’s a stuffed snail, but who cares? He’s cute, and was a thoughtful present from Aunt Rachel. 🙂 I have no idea how she managed to find a snail stuffed animal, because most stuffed animals are of mammals, not invertebrates. One of the cool things Continue reading
