One down!

I have finished the sage green afghan for Sarah. I did the last stitch sometime last night around 8:30. All I have to do now is weave the loose ends in from where I switched skeins, and it’s totally and utterly done. Woo! What a rush. I also made ten squares yesterday for the rainbow-colored afghan. I’d made twelve the day before. I think I have about 45-50 squares left to make Continue reading

Surrounded by crafts

Currently, half of the couch is covered in yarn and craft projects. I’ve got the rainbow-colored granny blanket over here, the sage green halfghan as well, a pillow to fix for my niece, and a lot of black and white yarn for a pillow with a skull on the front. I’ve also got blue yarn for a blanket I’m going to start once I finalize what pattern I want to do, and there are hooks scattered all over– Continue reading

My kingdom for a translator

Cats, unlike dogs, can produce a wide variety of sounds comparable to the numerous sounds used in human speech. In fact, cats can produce more sounds than particular languages have in total. It’s fascinating (and science fiction) to think that perhaps cats have their own language. Maybe I’ve been watching too much SeaQuest DSV where they’ve created a program to Continue reading

Blathering

I really couldn’t think of a title for this post because while I feel like posting–mostly just to remove the graphic-intensive previous post from the top–I don’t really know what I want to post about. I guess I’ll just ramble. After all, I’m pretty good at that. Or at least, so people tell me. Honestly, I don’t think I’m all that great at talking–to individuals or to groups. I think my thought Continue reading

Crochet projects

This is a shout-out to the family about my summer’s obessive crocheting. I’ve gotten it into my head that I want to make an afghan for each sibling and one for the ‘rents. It started with wanting to make a pillow or two for Sarah because I was making pillows for Jessica (which I just finished a couple days ago; I just need to get out and mail them or something). Then the pillow idea sort Continue reading

Annoying critters

I’m going to have to respray the outside of the house again with bug killer. While the product says it’s good for many months, it appears it’s really only good for about a month. Either that or we have incredibly persistent and resiliant bugs. There are ants around Kitty’s food dish again, and Ian pulled yet another deer tick from my arm last night. Hoo-ray. Damn bugs. If they weren’t so Continue reading

Crowley Colby

Sometimes I like to do something special for the husband. He is, after all, the greatest person in the world, and the cutest on top of that. So since he has been putting up with me being unemployed and me making a mess of the living room in the name of organizing and cleaning, I decided he needed something a little different. Knowing my husband pretty well, I decided on Continue reading

Banana Splat

I don’t cook much. I’m sort of one of those “throw it in the microwave” or “throw it all in a bowl” and then eat it kind of person. Last night was one of those “throw it all in a bowl” nights. I had recently picked up a bunch of fruit (yay fruit!), and since we have ice cream, I decided on a sort of banana split. Now I’m not one of those freaks who puts nuts on ice cream, so my toppings Continue reading

Successful Day

Yesterady was a good day. First off, Ian and I went to the Doyles to hang out with just about everyone: Fred, Francie, Leslie, Jeff, Jill, Troy, Cameron, Erin, and a couple cats. We had fun hanging out with everyone just chit-chatting, and Dad made steaks which made the chit-chatting a little more difficult because everyone was too busy drooling over the great dinner. I think I need Continue reading

Bunny

I’ve been doing some cleaning around the living room, and I realized Kitty wasn’t in her tent under the futon (yes, we make lots of tents for Kitty to play in; we’re lame like that). So I went to find her and she was perched on Ian’s dresser staring intently out the window, her tail twitching wildly. That particular window overlooks our backyard and the alley that runs from Dewey to 15th. Continue reading
