Just wanted to wish Dad and Dad-in-law a happy father’s day! Not sure what Ian and my plans are today, but I have the feeling that sleep, video games, and picking on Rook will be involved. For now, I think I’m going to work on the novel. I’m looking forward to being able to put together the cover soon since Rook brought down great-grandpa’s scythe (or great-great- Continue reading
Plot holes
Rrrr, it bugs me when I run across plot holes in my stories. They don’t tend to be major things, and they don’t tend to be things that most readers would ever figure out on their own, but there are enough anal-retentive/obsessive-compulsive types out there that would find these and be bothered by them that I try to fix as many holes as I possibly can. It’s difficult though, because Continue reading
Almost half a year ahead
I suppose all the work I’ve been doing on editing Book Two, finding quotes on Book Three, and figuring out how to pick up where I left off in Book Four has made me more than a little writing-crazy. I’ve already begun thinking ahead to what I’ll do for National Novel Writing Month this up-coming November. I guess part of me is paranoid that if I don’t jot notes down now for this, I Continue reading
Fuel to the fire
Huh. So, uh, remember how I mentioned not being able to sleep or breathe until like, uh, after August? Might make that until after September. One of the local authors contacted me about a fair that takes place in Ferdinand (little town near here) called the Ferdinand Folk Festival. It’s a local thing for artisans, folk musicians, and the like to hang out together and celebrate um, Continue reading
Ah, my life
Sometimes I don’t realize just how nutsy my life is until I start telling people about everything going on. Recently, we had a local author fair at the library with seven authors. Once the number of patrons dropped off and the authors were sitting around chatting, we came up with the idea that it’d be neat to have a booth during the Strassenfest here in Jasper in August. Since I Continue reading
Book Two Typed!
It’s three in the morning, and I just finished typing the second novel in my fantasy series! It’s 276 pages long (pre-editing) and 133,884 words (again, pre-editing). It’s just slightly shorter than the other two completed novels in the series, but that’s not a big deal. When hand-writing the whole mess, I was actually afraid it may end up being longer since it felt that way. I might’ve rushed the Continue reading
Annual Local Author Fair
I hope this is the first of many! I also hope that a lot of people come!
Zzzzzzzzzz
Looks like the library isn’t as exciting as everyone says. One of my favorite patrons fell asleep in the genealogy room. If he weren’t a Vietnam veteran, I would have considered dropping a stack of books beside him. He chuckled at this picture and had me send it to him. It was the most excitement all evening, lol.
28 1/2 pages
I’ve been working on an index for the huge binder that Katie lent me a while back which contains the genealogy of the Ringwald, Thinnes, Nolan, and Donnelly families. The binder is 302 pages long with vital records, photographs, and photocopies from books and newspapers. I’ve shown it to several local genealogists, and they are all highly impressed with the sheer depth and breadth of Continue reading
Awesome sundae!
Perfect way to spend an afternoon off: dark chocolate ice cream, whipped cream, dark chocolate chips, and crème de menthe liqueur. Yum!
