It begins

Well, as of tomorrow, I’ll officially begin the school year. Tomorrow is the first of the in-service teacher days, which means a day full of meetings and random other business. I’m going to try and grab the English teacher who taught the senior English/novels that I’m teaching this year so I can finally get a syllabus or something to work from. I think I’ve got the speech class figured out Continue reading

Getting ready

Well, I’m more or less ready for orientation tomorrow. Then our in-service days are Thursday and Friday. I even got a letter from the school today about the in-service days. It was mailed here to the parents’ house, heh. Due to my last name’s position in the alphabet, I’m to bring a salad or casserole. Woo? At any rate, I’m seriously looking forward to orinetation tomorrow because then Continue reading

Organize!

OK, everyone knows (or most everyone knows) that I am pretty disorganized at home. Well, I’m pretty disorganized with everything except for categorizing our books with the Library of Congress Cataloguing system and alphabetizing all of our DVDs and using actual card catalogue drawers to organize craft materials, but that’s beside the point. My desk is a mess, my bedroom Continue reading

It’s unofficial

Well, unofficially, I have the job at LGT teaching full-time as both Language Arts and French teacher. It’s unofficial because there’s still some paperwork to go through, I still need to meet with the principal, and there’s some CPR training left to do, but all that should go smoothly. I’ll be getting my emergency license for Language Arts from Oakland City College, and I’ll be getting Continue reading

LGT update

K, so here’s the deal. I had the interview this morning and they want me to teach. The problem is, of course, that I don’t old a teacer’s license. I can get an emergency license, but only if an accredited university or college is willing to sign off on it. After a very long day spent on the phone to both Indiana State University and Oakland City College, I’ve gotten one school to agree Continue reading

LGT

Oi! I write to you from the sleepy town of LGT. I’m down here for a job interview with the local high school. Yeah, yeah, I normally would never work in a high school, especially since I don’t have a teacher’s license (two more classes and student teaching and I would have gotten it), but, well, I’m looking for a job and this would really help my old school out. After all, if they can’t find Continue reading

It’s official

I am now officially out of a job. Dr. Dunbar just called about ten minutes ago to inform me that they had found a woman who is qualified to teach graduate-level classes, so obviously she’ll be qualified to teach the upper-level classes which I apparently cannot. I have to be out of the office by the beginning of August, which shouldn’t be a problem as I had already starting moving stuff Continue reading

Dead!

Dead week is now over. I’ve got three finals Monday, one Tuesday, and one Wednesday. That may not seem like a whole lot, but believe me, it’ll be a long time yet before the semester is all over. Today was really friggin’ long too. It’s bad enough that I went to bed at three after having written three finals and graded a ton of papers, but I barely ate (Peanut butter crackers count, Continue reading

Aardvark

The week is nearly over. That means next week will come quickly, and hopefully it will go as quickly as it arrives. My brain’s pretty fried. I referred to my cell phone as an “aardvark” yesterday for some odd reason, and then in class I couldn’t even remember the word “concert” when trying to describe a situation where a lot of people get together and listen to music. Yup. Continue reading

Crocheted bikini

I have a calendar here at work called “Crochet pattern-a-day,” and today’s pattern is for a crocheted bikini. Fascinating. So I get to look at a mannequin waring a gold-colored bikini all day during my office hours. Joy. At least it’s better than the overly-bright purse made out of Kool-aid foil drink wrappers or the baby Abraham Lincoln hat/beard and so on.
