I want to continue with my theme of relating my hectic days, and were I not so tired Wednesday and not so distracted by Star Wars Thursday, I would have written posts then. As it is, I was tired Wednesday (extremely so!) and I was distracted Thursday. So I'll just ramble on about those days now (Friday morning).
Wednesday morning meant getting up and going to the library where I couldn't do all of my work because they were working on the system so I couldn't save any changes to the authority records. In German class, we learned how to conjugate verbs as well as more greetings. At the tutoring center, however, was such a source of pure and vile annoyance that I can't even bring myself to relate the session here without wanting to grind my teeth and punch a hole in the wall. Some students simply don't want to be helped, they want to be babied, and I'll leave it at that. That particular student made me nearly late to Univ 101 where I had the students sign up for speech topics before giving them their 20-question exam. I had to wait around an extra ten minutes for one student to leave and come back with his journal entry which he hadn't printed off before class. Lunch was spent not eating but making a hand-out and photocopies to give to my French class. I had to haul a suitcase (albeit, a carry-on wheely one) of books from my van up to the second floor of Guerin hall because we went over Gothic architecture and art books are friggin' HUGE. It was bad enough that my backpack was so full that I had to leave my afternoon books out when I went to my morning class only to pull the morning class' book out to leave in the van so I would have room for my evening class' books. Heavy loads. After French, it was back to the tutoring center where I helped a girl with a presentation, and then I ran off to the Commons to eat something and study for my morphemes test. The night class went well, as usual, and I drove home completely exhausted and pretty much incapable of anything aside from grading the Univ 101 exams (1 A and far too many Cs and Ds) and doing a little studying for my grammar test. I conked out around 11, only to wake up several times during the night. Fun!
Thursday I got up and carried a sort-of-late birthday card over to Lushbaugh's. Ian had bought it Wednesday (which was Lushbaugh's birthday), but I was too tired to think of anything to write in it or to even carry it across the street, so I shoved it in the mailbox Thursday morning and headed to the library. The system was totally down, and I thought that maybe this meant I could leave and study for my gramar test, but Deb T. found a number of books that needed to be withdrawn from the shelves and put in the big recycle box downstairs. My tea had to sit on my desk to get cold and nasty while I pushed a cart of books around without any caffeine in my system. I did eventually leave about twenty minutes early, so I plopped down on a bench and started reading my grammar book. After swatting at bugs for about ten minutes, I gave up and went to the tutoring center where I waited on my morning's appointments. Two appointments later, I went to the French table where I blathered on in French for a while with mon prof and the others. I left early so I could go to my grammar class, still flipping through the book trying to get all those particle verbs in my head. The test actually only took me thirty minutes, so I decided to bring the van home and drop off all my books so I wasn't hauling them around the rest of the afternoon. This is when I grabbed a sandwich and a novel and walked back to the tutoring center where my four appointments didn't show up. Go figure; that always happens. When I don't have mounds of homework with me, then no one shows up. When I have more than enough to do, everyone shows up. So I read my book and left early to come home to the husband who had just gotten the Star Wars trilogy. We watched that while I did German homework and French lesson plans, and I went to bed near ten from sheer exhaustion.
So that was pretty much my past couple days. Today's my short day because I get to come home after three. I plan on napping. I'm pooped out.
