First week off so far

I think it would be more bizarre this week if Simon weren’t up. As it is, it just feels like a really long weekend with insane amounts of DnD, corn dogs, and Mountain Dew. Next week will probably feel much odder. So far since my last day on Friday, we’ve had a cook-out at the Lushbaugh’s, played some random DnD with Simey and worked on his character, and watched a Continue reading

Holiday Weekend Hijinx

Simon’s up for the week, and we hit the Lushbaugh’s to play games, enjoy BBQ chicken, and fireworks. We played some paper telephone (to be scanned in eventually) during dinner, and afterwards we played with the random comic maker. I chose two from everyone (except Jamie who picked three comics to post) and have decided to put them up for everyone’s amusement. Continue reading

No TKT

I’m not going to do a TKT today. It’s way too busy at Sycamore Advantage since today’s the last day for freshman orientation. Tomorrow we’ve got four transfer students, but today’s busy. We’ll have people in and out all afternoon, so no time to type then. Tonight, I have a few projects to work on and won’t have time to come up with much then either. So if you’ve got something you Continue reading

Random Comic Maker

I’ve been thinking about things that I could do with Simon when he’s up here next week, and knowing that he likes to do random creative things like drawing and writing short (silly) stories, I thought I’d try to come up with a way to create random comics so we can do some creative exercises while he’s up. I originally drew 40 pictures on 3″x3″ pieces of scrapbooking paper Continue reading

TKT #3 Thou

Thee, thine, thou and thy

To start the lesson on the pronouns thee, thine, etc., first I’ll explain pronouns really quick so you’re familiar with the different kinds. A pronoun occupies the same position as nouns and noun phrases. So “sister” can be replaced by “her” and “my beautiful antique vase” can be replaced by “it,” for example. The different kinds are as follows: Continue reading

TKT to come

I’ll post the TKT #3 here later. It’s really hectic today at work since we had a much larger crowd today than usual. I figure I can work on TKT this evening after getting back from the laundromat. See you then!

Drooooool Gaylord!

So I wrote a while back about how I organized my bookshelves following the Library of Congress Cataloguing system. Since then, I’ve gotten some more library-related goals in mind for our little collection. Aside from getting another bookshelf (soon, I hope), I’ve been thinking about getting some supplies to help out my collection. Most of them have to do with book preservation, such as Continue reading

Caffeinator

I loaned Heather my herbs/spices book that I got for Christmas from the other Erin Doyle, and we got to talking about teas and tisanes and all that jazz, and I pointed her to Adagio, which is where I point everyone interested in teas beyond Lipton and Ian’s Nastea, and I got to playing around on their site some more and started getting all tea-thirsty. I might have to fix myself a few cups when I Continue reading

Two weeks left

Well, I have two weeks left here at SASC. It’s an odd feeling, knowing that I’ve been here for six years and yet I’ll be gone in just two weeks. Currently, just about everyone in the department is sitting around the main office eating birthday cake and gabbing. I came back in here because I had to mail an electronic copy of Jerry to the College of Arts and Sciences. That’s just one step closer Continue reading

Sore feet

Lots of random stuff going on lately. It’s all random enough that I’m not sure what order to put it all in. I’ll just start with the webpage because that’s what I was just working on. I went through and cleaned up my comics links a bit more. I wonder if it’s sad that 90% of the links on my links page are webcomics. Eh, it’s a hobby. Everyone’s gotta have a hobby. I went through my links and Continue reading
