Happy late birthday, Katie!

I thought about doing something fun for Katie’s birthday like posting pics or posting random stuff that happened on her birthday in the past, but I keep forgetting that on days that I teach, my brain goes right out the window along with anything I might have been thinking. So here I am in my office surrounded by a pile of stuff demanding my attention, wishing the big sis a slightly late Continue reading

Happy birthday, Lushbaugh!

First off, I’d like to give a birthday shout out to Lushbaugh who’s turning like, I dunno, nine today or something. I know that since he works insanely long hours, he’s not gonna have much time to party tonight, but if he gets a few beers in him, I’m sure he’ll be happy. So, go Lushbaugh! Here’s to surviving another year! 😉

TKT #7

Lost in Translation

For today’s TKT, I thought I’d talk about how sayings are translated from one language to another. The sayings that I’ll talk about are idiomatic expressions which have a more or less fixed form and whose meaning really cannot be ascertained by the words/grammar used to form them. For instance, “Cat got your tongue?” is an idiomatic expression whose meaning “Why are Continue reading

In between classes

Well, I’m in my office in between my 101 and 202 classes. I’ve got about twenty minutes before I have to get up, so I thought I might toss a quickie message up here in the interim. I still have a crapload of stuff to grade, but I’m going to drag that to the laundromat with me tonight since I still have laundry to do. I figure I’m feeling a little better, so I ought to get it done quickly before I Continue reading

Awake still

Well, I’ve been watching a lot of South Park, playing a little soduko, and working on the webpage a bunch. I’ve finally got my Atheist webpage up which has a lot of links to Atheist sites, tons of Atheist quotes and some other random stuff. I’ve also moved all of the comics that I read on a weekly basis from the Links page to a page devoted completely to Comics Links. I figure that it Continue reading

Sick still

Well, I’m still sick. I’ve been taking cold medicine, but I had to switch types yesterday because the pharmacy was closed, and the stuff without that sudopehedrine (sp?) just doesn’t work as well. I don’t suppose the weather’s been helping either because it has gone from hot and humid to constantly raining and cooler. Teaching while feeling sick is not easy. In fact, it sucks. I’ve slept Continue reading

La clé!!

I finally got a key to my office door! Today after my fourth class, I swung by the secretary’s office, and she said she’d stuck a note on my door telling me that my key was ready to be picked up at Facilities Management. Sweet ass! So I ran over there, signed for my key, and ran back to my office where I unlocked my door with my new key! I’m so happy, and it’s so shiny! 🙂 Now I Continue reading

Little things

En lieu of grading papers or preparing lesson plans, I’ve been watching the 1915 film series “Les Vampires” and doing Sudoku. This is more than a little similar to last night when I was watching old horror flicks and working on the webpage. I got a lot of little things done yesterday, however. For starters, I added links on the Pictures page to all the posts that have pictures in reverse Continue reading

Garble

First off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KYLE! My nephew’s five now, and it’s been fascinating watching his antics since he was born. Actually, I sort of use his age as a way of figuring out what wedding anniversary the husband and I are celebrating since he was born in 2001 and we got married four days before his first birthday. See? Crazy math is the best math. So happy birthday, Tasmanian Continue reading

Lazy Sunday evening

Ah, lazy, lazy Sunday evenings. I’m currently watching some bad old horror movies and getting things ready for my four classes tomorrow. I figure the most important thing to do tonight is work up some sort of study guide since three of my four classes are taking their first exam Wednesday, and the fourth is taking their exam Friday. I can’t seem to concentrate on lesson plans though since Continue reading
