The Evil Eye

After a bunch of crocheting yesterday (and some today), I finished all the eyeballs I had started. I now have two of each of the following colors: light blue, blue, green, grey, red, black, and brown. Woo! Lots of eyes. I’ve already got all fourteen of them up on Etsy. Now I’m thinking it’s time to take a crack at the spiders. They’re more difficult than the eyeballs but cuter. I’ve got plenty of Continue reading

SO CUTE!!!1!!

I spent a good five hours last night playing with the Crayola Model Magic, and since it has to be used all in one sitting, I decided I’d make as many snail magnets as possible. I had already made about a dozen leaves with magnets in them for tiny snails, so I made the bodies for those first. Then I switched to my snails with tiny balls of yarn as their shells. I left them overnight to dry, and Continue reading

Pictures!

K, so I have pictures for some of the things I’ve been making. The snail magnets still aren’t done (I haven’t even made the snails yet, having gotten only about four and a half hours of sleep after going to bed at seven–and Kitty woke me up three times!), so no pictures of them until Saturday, probably. At any rate, I’m gonna go in chronological order starting with those done Continue reading

Oops

Well, rather without realizing it, I’ve stayed up until six in the morning again. I became aware that it was becoming late when all I was finding on TV were infomercials. Whoops. Well, I was immersed in what I was doing, so I didn’t care much as to what time it was, though now that I’ve slowed down, I’m getting groggy. Too bad the husband has fallen asleep on the bed on the Continue reading

Have I mentioned I’ve been crocheting?

I learned to crochet for two major reasons: to be able to make pillows like the one I grew up with, and to make spider toys like the ones we all used to beat each other with. I’ve made a number of pillows like the one Gramdma Ringwald made so long ago, but I had yet to make any spiders. So I sat down this week to try and figure out how to crochet a ball. Seems simple Continue reading

Relaxing?

Well now that I’ve got Golden Snail Designs up and running on Etsy, I figured I’d take a break from making stuff for the site (this after making sixteen stitch markers that look like snails last night) and instead get back to making stuff for family. I’ve been working off and on on Katie’s blanket in between pillowcases or sewing elastic into hats. To be honest, all the squares for the Continue reading

Yarn for brains

Well, I still haven’t gotten any pictures uploaded to my machine let alone edited and put on the webpage. Suffice it to say that I’ve been crocheting a lot and therefore haven’t been on my computer much. About half of my day is spent outside with the cat and a ball of yarn–for me, not her. I finished the blanket for Tommy and we chatted on the porch for a few hours yesterday Continue reading

On hold

Well, some of the craftiness is on hold for a little while. While I have some yarn to begin work on Katie’s halfghan, I don’t have the right size hook for it. I have lots of crochet hooks–both steel and aluminum (as well as one wooden one)–ranging from very, very small to fairly large, but there’s a gap between the medium-sized ones and the larger ones. I have aluminum hooks C-J Continue reading

One down!

I have finished the sage green afghan for Sarah. I did the last stitch sometime last night around 8:30. All I have to do now is weave the loose ends in from where I switched skeins, and it’s totally and utterly done. Woo! What a rush. I also made ten squares yesterday for the rainbow-colored afghan. I’d made twelve the day before. I think I have about 45-50 squares left to make Continue reading

Surrounded by crafts

Currently, half of the couch is covered in yarn and craft projects. I’ve got the rainbow-colored granny blanket over here, the sage green halfghan as well, a pillow to fix for my niece, and a lot of black and white yarn for a pillow with a skull on the front. I’ve also got blue yarn for a blanket I’m going to start once I finalize what pattern I want to do, and there are hooks scattered all over– Continue reading
