Work has been exhausting; I think I’ve mentioned that an awful lot on here. Lately I’ve been going to bed at ten because I’ve been so tired. Yesterday, I was so exhausted I got dizzy and had to go to bed around eight. Yippee, right? I woke up around two when the husband came to bed, waking me from a dream I was having about Tom Hanks and a bunch of other people in a Continue reading

First day of class
So today’s my first day of class. My first class is in about an hour. I have the syllabus typed and copied and shoved in my tote. I don’t plan on doing much, just getting the syllabus to them, getting them to fill out little index cards and making sure they at least have a vague idea as to what’s going on. I’ve got a homework assignment for them: they have to e-mail me from their MyISU Portal Continue reading
Happy birthday, Aunt Pamela!
I need to call her tonight to wish her a happy birthday, but that’s not the point of this post. The point? I’m not sure. I had one when I started this or thought about starting this, but my brain is dead. I’ve been trying to schedule guest speakers for my Univ 101 classes, work on the web page for my Univ 101 classes, work on the syllabus for my Univ 101 classes, and get my supplies Continue reading
Twitch
Insert sound of head exploding here. I started work again yesterday, and I haven’t had a moment’s rest here since. Within five minutes of being here, there were already several things to be done such as helping with the last day of late registration, meetings and working on my syllabi for the two sections of University 101 that I’m teaching this fall. Heather, my officemate, is likewise Continue reading
More archiving
Well, I’ve archived another couple web comics and have linked them on my links page. Boy on a Stick and Slither has way too much dumb religious crap in it to be totally funny, but occasionally there are interesting and witty comments about society and stupid people to make it almost worth putting up with the uneducated god comments now and again. The second is Punks and Nerds Continue reading
Well, shit
Brannagh’s not working. Last night we had a really kickass thunderstorm which rocked the house for over an hour, and the power blipped once (that I know of). I was upstairs in the bedroom trying to sleep through it but since our bedroom windows no longer face a building taller than us, all of the light from the lightning coming through four very large windows is not sleep-inducing. Continue reading
Sleep schedule
I’m not sure how I’m going to get up at 6:30 next Monday. I’ve pretty well destroyed my sleep schedule since I’ve been on my forced vacation. When we were still in the apartment and things were being packed, I went to bed rather reasonably around midnight every night. Now that we’ve moved, I stay up until two or three watching DVDs and cross stitching or working on my Continue reading
Back after a long absence
Well, I've finally decided to post after not having messed with the internet for a couple weeks. I'm not sure what it is about being home all day, but it makes me incredibly uninterested in my computer. I'll admit that for a while it was the fact that we had no internet, and by the time it came back up, I was far too involved in my cross stitching and movie watching to really care a whole Continue reading
Cleaning Fumes
I ran to Wally World earlier today to grab cleaning supplies and buttons and a tackle box for my Legos (which, incidently, should never be used in the plural because it’s a mass noun, not a count noun according to the Lego people, but obviously I don’t care a lot). I grabbed some rust remover for tubs, some floor mopping solution (what’s that stuff called?) and some Woolite for the couch. We already have Soft Scrub, window cleaner and some other stuff…linseed oil, uh, detergent, that kind of stuff. You know, essentials.
I started doing some cleaning yesterday, and decided to carry it over into today. I picked up some plastic tubing so I could siphon (syphon? I hate that word) some murky water out of the two tanks, and so that’s the first thing I did while Ian nearly killed himself using that rust remover in the tub. Fumes galore, and nasty ones too. But it seemed to work; the tub is cleaner.
I went to the couch only to discover ants had taken up resident in it. Note to self: get vacuum cleaner for crumbs. So I used some Raid on them (more fumes) then started using the Woolite upholstery (upholstry? Another damned word to misspell) cleaner on the couch. Again, more fumes. Now, mind you, the couch is relatively clean as far as stains go meaning they aren’t breeding bacteria. Still, the stains are there and are unfortunately almost all caused by the cat. Using the Woolite (which I can’t seem to figure out) only made the stains appear to show up more. Dippy. Of course, had we used something on the stains when they had happened, this wouldn’t be an issue. Oh well, at least the stains are cleaner now. I’m waiting on the couch to dry so I can use our little desk vacuum on it again and then do the other sides of the cushions.
Ian’s currently in the process of using the Soft Scrub and something else and something else in the bathroom, hence more fumes and an annoyed Kitty because he won’t let her in there while he’s cleaning. I can only hope she’ll leave the damned couch alone while it’s drying. The mini-vacuum scared her off earlier, and she hates the sound of spray cans, so I could just rev up the vacuum when she gets on the couch. As soon as I’m done with the couch, I think I’ll work on getting everything off the living room floor so I can sweep then mop to get the Woolite that sprayed on the floor off the floor. I think that after that, there’s some more dishes to be done and the kitchen floor could use a good mopping too.
Eventually, I need to get back to packing. We’ve been working on cleaning out the closet, and next I think will be Kitty’s room. 90% of the crap in this place is mine, and therefore it is my responsibility to go through it all and throw 75% of it away or pack it better. Such fun! This weekend, I’d do more cleaning/packing, but the husband and and I are hitting LGT to camp a night with the sis and her family. Busy, busy, and I haven’t even touched my thesis since I’ve been put on a forced vacation. Isn’t it grand?
It’s a fucking game
So I play Puzzle Pirates periodically. I'll go days not messing with it, and even then a lot of times I'll just log on, play a few crafting puzzles and log off. Continue reading
