It hit 80

Well, it finally hit 80 degrees in my classroom today. It got close several times last week, but today it was absolutely sweltering. Normally it’s about 76 when I first get there, it hits 77 by noon then is 78 by 6th and 7th periods. Today? It started at 77, hit 79 by noon and was 80 in both 6th and 7th periods. I have to say that 6th period is the worst because I have 26 students in there Continue reading

Cookin’!

My eyes still sting from the onion I chopped up earlier. Generally, I don’t like onions much because of the consistency and over-powering flavor, but I’m following the husband’s beef stew recipe and decided I’d try to actually try it as he has it written. I’ll admit that I screwed up on it already though because I forgot to heat the olive oil before adding the minced garlic (minced fresh Continue reading

Arts & Crafts

I haven’t made anything in a while. I haven’t crocheted in forever (still have about uh, four? projects I’m working on), I haven’t made a dream catcher in a long time, and I haven’t done any cross stitching in a long time either. Crappy. I think I ought to make part of Saturdays specifically for crafts. Of course, I’m sure the husband would prefer that I make most of Saturdays a day for Continue reading

Day of the Dent!

Happy anniversary for the dent! It’s now uh, what… Thirteen years old? Geez, been a while, eh? At any rate, it’s a dent, and uh, that’s about all I can think to say about it right now.

What long-legged birds are native to the Indiana area? Crane? Heron? Shitepokes? I dunno. All I Continue reading

Free books!

I went to yet another book adoption meeting this evening. I got a lot of new books, some novels, many textbooks and workbooks. A lot of additions to my totally disorganized library (Damn you, moving, damn you!). At the moment, I have an overflowing bookshelf covered with sample books, textbooks, CDs, and DVDs. It’s fun going through all of them, but it’s hard trying to Continue reading

Next Iron Chef

I’m still surprised that Symon won The Next Iron Chef competition. Originally, I wanted Morou to win, but when he was bumped off, I figured Besh would get it. But nope, Symon won it. It was a fun little series. I’m just annoyed that Sanchez didn’t get kicked off second episode ’cause he was kind of crazy. It’s also sad the two girls both got kicked off so quickly. Oh well, it’ll be Continue reading

Un cerf

Yeah, so I nearly hit a deer this morning. I say “nearly” but it was actually about thirty feet away from me when I slammed on the brakes. Two pickups were headed in the opposite direction and they got much closer to the doe than I did. Crazy critter. I told Ian about this and he said something about “thinning out their numbers.” Ah, well, Predator is on TV right Continue reading

Eh bien?

Uh, haven’t posted in a while. I’m waiting for the finale of The Next Iron Chef. Kitty’s hanging out on the back of the couch behind me. The husband is washing dishes from lunch with the in-laws over then dinner with Damien after he got off work. Uh, I should be grading right now but uh, I’m not really concentrating enough for that. I’ll probably resort to the DS, trying to catch up on the Continue reading

Messing with students

Most of the tests I give in my English class are borrowed copies from the English teacher who taught English 12 last year. So that she didn’t have to try coming up with sample sentences for her exams and quizzes, she used the pre-written sentences in her other English books for the other grades she taught. After all, a sentence is a sentence is a sentence. A sentence containing a direct Continue reading

Missing

Since coming down here to LGT, I’ve been missing quite a bit. I can think of multiple definitions for “missing” and I’m pretty sure all of them apply in abundance. Here’s an abridged list of all the things I’m missing: Continue reading
