Cookin’!

My eyes still sting from the onion I chopped up earlier. Generally, I don’t like onions much because of the consistency and over-powering flavor, but I’m following the husband’s beef stew recipe and decided I’d try to actually try it as he has it written. I’ll admit that I screwed up on it already though because I forgot to heat the olive oil before adding the minced garlic (minced fresh by me, I might add) and chopped onions to it, and I didn’t get the potatoes into the crock pot at the same time as the rest of the stuff because I wasn’t done chopping them yet. They were added about five minutes later. No big deal, I guess, but then again, I don’t cook much so I don’t know how much of a difference the changes are going to make.

Since Ian works tonight at five, around the same time the parents are coming over, that will pretty much leave me to make the breadbowls and dessert. I think I can manage. It won’t be as good as when Ian fixes food, yet I doubt it’l be poisonous. At any rate, my eyes still sting from those damned onions, and I’m thinking a shower is in order. Maybe I’ve still got onion juice on me somewhere that’s giving me grief. I also need to start laundry and work on cleaning up the living room a bit more. Or the dining room. Whichever. Right now, shower time.
