Tea time

I sometimes drink tea at work. Lately, it’s actually been most of the time at work. That means that I ran out of my pu erh sachets from Adagio because I drank them all. That left me with some mint tea and a few decaffeinated greens, not enough to keep me going all week long. So all afternoon at work and during crochet class (which is seriously starting to pick up again like crazy), I was thinking about how I need more black teas at work. Mind you, I have a lot of loose leaf teas, but I hesitate to bring those to work because they take up more space and are more difficult to brew (although they’re much more worth it, in my opinion). So it looks like I’ll be bringing in some English breakfast sachets (also from Adagio) and some random teabags that I scrounged up in the bottom of my tea collection.

It occurred to me while I was frantically searching for particular teas, that just thinking about tea or reading about tea or buying tea or whatever makes me really, really want to brew some tea. That’s why I currently have the kettle on with a couple mugs with loose leaf currant-flavored tea sitting in the kitchen just waiting for a nice cuppa. Mmmmm… Hot, delicious tea. Soothing, peaceful, tranquil tea. I understand drinking coffee only so much, but I understand drinking cup after cup of tea completely. White, green, black… They’re all awesome. I even enjoy quite a number of tisanes (you know, herbals or infusions that aren’t made from the actual tea plant itself). It’s only when talking to people about tea and realizing that most Americans consider iced tea to be the way to drink the bitter elixer that I am reminded as to how much of a tea snob I really am. Iced? Screw that. Gimme a steaming cup fresh from the teapot. 🙂 It’d be like giving a coffee lover instant crystals.

So, it’s tea time. Tomorrow for lunch, it will also be tea time. I don’t care if it’s in the middle of the summer; I want a hot cup of tea!
