I’ve gotten a lot more painting done this week, completing the fantasy side of the science fiction section as well as getting two of the four major components to the mystery section finished: the magnifying glass and bloody dagger. Also, I have painted stick figures over the entrance to the restrooms so that patrons might have an easier time finding the facilities without asking us all the time. It has been a lot of work, and I’ve bruised my knees on the ladders and gotten paint on my face and hair, but it has been totally worth it. After the board meeting Thursday, several of the board members “toured” the murals, pointing and talking and gazing up at them like they were in a museum. One member actually shook my hand and thanked me for all my hard work to make the library a brighter, more colorful place. 😀 It makes me happy to know that people are enjoying the art. The kids coming in love the paintings, and several of them have even been making up stories about the scenes and talking about them as they show them to their parents. I’m so glad that I can contribute something that is making such a positive impact. I hope that the Mystery Writing Essay Contest that Sandy and I are putting together goes over as well as the murals!

I’ve updated the murals page to include the new pictures as well as new descriptions of the paintings themselves. I’m looking forward to finishing the mystery section and the theater. I wonder what we can paint next? 😉
