Catching up

Lessee, what all has happened since the last post? The husband and I had a fun time up in the Haute with the Lushbaughs and Miller. We ate at Mogger’s (teh m0st awes0mest tav3rn 3var!) and played some Dungeons and Dragons, killing wantonly and getting tons of l00t. It’s too bad it’ll probably be a couple months before we get another chance to run up there again. On the way back, we got to watch the husband’s Celebrity roll over to 100,000 miles. My van’s already up over 257,000 miles, so it’s not much fun watching its odometer anymore (in fact, it’s more terrifying than anything). I tried taking a picture of it, but there just wasn’t enough light in the car for my phone’s camera to pick it up. The crazy thing about his car rolling over 100,000 miles is that his car’s four years older than the Mom-mobile. Crazy!

It’s “poisson d’avril” day! The fun day to tape paper fish to people’s backs with the hopes that they don’t notice and wander around for a while with it stuck to them. Oddly, I didn’t get any paper fish stuck to me today. Lots of other people did though, and that brought a smile to my face. Next year? I’m thinking of investing in a lot of fish stickers to make the process easier in general. This is, however, the first year I didn’t put a new paper fish on Brad’s door at SASC at ISU. Had I thought about it sooner, I’d’ve mailed him one. Maybe the next time I’m up in the Haute, I’ll try to make it up there over a weekday and swing by to say hi. I miss working for Brad; tutoring was definitely one of my favorite jobs ever. Academic advising was a great job too, though I have to admit little compares to getting to spend long hours cataloguing and processing books. Ah, good times.

I’m trying to think if there’s really much else to catch up on. Oh yeah, I crocheted a little lapghan (an afghan for the lap, for those who may not know the term) with some yarn I bought last fall. It’s cute. It’s a net pattern with scalloped edge. It’s camoflage. Yeah, long story about the color, but oddly, it worked out really well and is kind of neat. I figure it’ll end up getting used as a tent for Kitty at some point (what blanket around here doesn’t get used for that?) so we’ll probably be cracking jokes about Kitty disappearing or hunting or something like that. At any rate, that sounds like enough of an update for now. I come up with things to post, but don’t always have time to post them, so I just have to try and remember what I want to post about until I have time, which means I forget a lot. Moo. I’m gonna wander off now (my insomnia’s been acting up so when I get tired, I try to sleep) and probably veg in front of the Discovery Channel until I pass out. Night!
