On-line again

Yeah, haven’t been on-line a whole lot. I can’t remember the last time I checked any e-mail other than the school’s address, and even that I don’t check daily. I’m on-line at the school just enough to enter grades and attendance, and I’m on-line here at the house pretty much just enough to enter grades as well. Sitting down and posting isn’t exactly something I have much time for. I’ve spent the past uh, I dunno, five hours grading papers and I haven’t even made much of a dent in the majority of them. I got through most of French 1’s stuff, but I barely got to French 3 or the English classes. It’s the English classes where there’s the most to do because there’s a lot of quizzes and homework in those classes. It’s the only thing I can do to keep them awake, it seems. I just wish it weren’t such a drain on everything else in my life.

Speaking of what little life I have left, I spent the weekend in the Haute with the husband, going out to eat, going shopping and watching movies with him and the cat. I got a little DS play and WoW play in there, so that was nice and relaxing. The nearly four hours of grading Sunday sucked, but at least it made a decent hole in the stuff that needed grading. The second series of progress reports are due this Friday, so I’m trying to get as much in as possible before those go out. Some of these grades can really help the students. Some…well, for some, not much is going to help except for a major dose of giving a shit. Maybe they just need enemas. Maybe I need more sleep.

So I’ve just finished typing up a quiz for English, my speech class is giving speeches the next two days which means more to grade and enter into the system, and yet ISTEPs are going on this week which means a third of my classes are going to be screwed up thanks to kids going in and out at random all day long. Fun. I haven’t even gotten a chance to start looking into the application process for the education program I’m trying to get into this spring–something which really needs to be done soon since it’s the only thing that’s going to keep me employed for the time being. I’d drink more caffeine and just stay up a little later, but I’d rather not push the little sleep I get back any further. I’m thrilled to get between five to six hours of sleep a night. I could run on three to four, but not for long. Too bad fall break is the end of October. I could use a three-day weekend sooner rather than later. Oh well. Time to go. I have about six stacks of papers to enter into the computer, another five I really want to grade tonight and some tentative scheduling ideas to work out. It’s 10:10 here now…I’m guessing I might hit the bed by midnight…if I don’t do everything I want to. Night.

    ISTEP:

So do you have to administer the test? I know they basically randomly select teachers here to do so. I teach juniors and seniors and I'm giving it to sophomores; Brian Macke teaches French and he's giving it to freshmen, I believe.
