Boredom

So I get bored up here sometimes, especially on Fridays when students don’t tend to show up. I mean, I’ve had several phone calls and a few students in off and on today, and there was that meeting this morning for all the advisors, but since I’m the only Open Preference advisor up here right now (Heather’s sick and Susan’s in a meeting across campus), there’s no one to bother in the immediate area. Except my nose. Well, really it’s my nose bothering me–damned sinuses. But I digress, as usual.

So I’ve been archiving a webcomic most of the afternoon, but I got distracted away from it by a problem with a student’s file, so instead I started playing in Banner. Banner’s the program that we use to access student files and all that. So I’m playing in Banner and decide to look up all the Doyles here on campus. There’s a lot, lemme tell you. Banner also pulls up some Doyles of days past plus others who were admitted but didn’t enroll here at ISU yet were given identification numbers anyway.

So, at any rate, I’m looking at all these Doyles, and one thing that I always look for are other Doyles named Erin ’cause I know there’s a ton of us (an understandable notion since I’m the second Erin Doyle in the husband’s family). Yup, sure enough, there are three other Erin Doyles listed in Banner, and I’m the oldest. I’m only the oldest by about two months, but I’m still the oldest. Go me? I’ve also looked up some of my in-laws names. There’s no Alan, there is a Frances, one Ian (That’s the husband, actually.), three Michelles, two Samanthas, no Jills (who’s no longer a Doyle technically), no Freds, no Brandons, no Leslies, and no Rose Anns (Grandma).

Yup. Bored. The silly thing is that I’ve brought Buster in so I could watch a movie, but I just haven’t gotten around to taking him out of my backpack, and looking at the wall clock, there’s hardly enough time for the movies I’ve brought in, so what’s the point? I’d rather be sleeping or playing EQ right now, but not being able to do either, I’ve been reading a webcomic about EQ and daydreaming about sleep. Joy. Oh well, may my boredom keep me awake for the next hour and a half. I know my dripping nose is enough to do just that. Damned sinuses.

P.S. This drivvel is my 100th post. Maybe I should have done something special, or maybe I just shouldn’t worry about it. At any rate, Happy 100th Post!
