Joints

When Ian and I moved, somewhere in the shuffle (or even before), we lost my favorite yoga tape. The tape was one of the few reasons why we bought a cheapy VCR. At our apartment, there really wasn’t enough room to do yoga anyway because the living room was so tiny. At the new place, there’s tons of room, but no tape. So last Friday when Ian and I went out for our anniversary, I picked up a similar DVD on yoga by the same dude. Monday night since the husband was gone, I popped it in and watched through most of it (like the box says you shoudl) and then tried some. It’s an hour and twenty minutes total, and I got through about ten. It has been a really long time since I’ve done any yoga, and I’m so chunky and out of shape that this just hurt. This workout is also targeting other areas than my first tape, so that makes it difficult too. So after ten minutes I stopped and went on to other things.

Tuesday I turned the DVD back on and began the workout, this time getting through maybe fifteen minutes. My arms and shoulders hurt from all the push-up moves and trying to support myself on them since there aren’t any muscles in them. Yesterday, I noticed that my chest and shoulders hurt, proof that what I’m doing is really just pulling muscles and tearing up my joints. Huzzah! I still ache today, but I figure that if I work out two days in a row with one day off, I can get into a sort of schedule so that I eventually stop aching in lots of joints and muscles. At least yoga gets me all relaxed and stretched out after all the stress at work. Of course, the “relaxed and stretched out” won’t start until after I stop aching from the recent pulls and strains. Yippee. Oh well, step one of like a hundred to start feeling better, eh?

It's like the guy who hates salad but eats it so he can live longer…and he eats more salad because it makes him live longer. He still hates it but he has to eat it because it makes him live longer.
