Can’t stop typing

Well, I have chapter ten typed up and on-line now. I also have added next and back buttons on the chapters which are already up to make reading through more than one chapter easier to do. I’m going to work on chapter eleven now. I could probably have it up later tonight. After all, what else am I going to do? Ian left for work almost two hours ago and the cat’s asleep. I’ll probably Continue reading

I graduate soon!

Just a few quick things today, then I’m getting back to the syllabi I’m typing up for the four classes I’ll be teaching this fall. First off, I just realized that I officially graduate in five days! August 10 is the graduation date for summer students. I’m hopping over to my ISU account right now to make sure that I don’t owe the university anything that would keep me from graduating. After all, if I Continue reading

I finished!

11:15 pm, August 3, 2006 – I finished my novel! I started it on March 5, 2002. It (only) took me four years and nearly five months to complete, but it’s finished! I wrote the last seven and a half pages today, and now it’s done! I’m so happy!

Book one, chapter nine

Well, I’ve been working on the book a lot the past couple days (as is evident from the excerpt I tossed up yesterday), and I finally got all of chapter nine typed up and put on the webpage. If you’d like to read it, here it is. I feel I have to warn you though: it’s long, and it’s mostly just talking. I figure that since this is the first book in a series and there’s a lot of world-building, character- Continue reading

Dancing with the Devil in the Pale Moonlight

I gasped as he pulled me close to his chest. His hand held mine firmly and his arm was around my waist tightly. My hand on his shoulder shook a little as my breath caught in my throat. He began turning quickly, pulling me with him. Then he began walking backwards toward the bed with long strides. It was all I could to do keep up with his gliding movements. The entire time we Continue reading

Hella lot

So I was talking to Miller and Dave last night while going through all the archives of Piled Higher and Deeper, or PhD for short, and it occured to me that I didn’t really know exactly how many comics I go through in a week. After all, it took me six hours to catch up on a week and a half’s worth of comics, so that probably means I read a lot, right? Right. So at around three in the Continue reading

Cleaning

I’ve been doing a shitload of cleaning lately. It’s mostly due to the fact that I finally have time to clean, and partly because people came over Saturday to get drunk and I’m not a big fan of piles of stuff lying around drunkies. That leads to bigger messes than I care to deal with, so I cleaned. I still technically have some dishes to wash, and after I use the last pair of rubber gloves, I’m not Continue reading

Désœuvrement

Playing around with an old CD of mine that Ian found in a stack of his, I came across a whole lot of random shit from 2000 and 2001. After rifling through old porn pics, cross stitch patterns (same thing, really, considering I spent more time searching for patterns than porn), and a bunch of old poetry, I found this recipe that the older sis and I made up years ago at her place in Ohio. We Continue reading

Finality

It’s all over.

I’m far too exhausted to get into a long post about the hell I’ve been through the past several weeks. Instead, I’ll just throw a bunch of pictures up here and put captions under them to explain the past two weeks. I’m going to make them all thumbnails so there’s less loading time for those of you on dial-up. That means you have to click on the thumbnail to get the entire picture. Duh. Continue reading

This weekend

The parents are going to pick me up tonight to head to LGT. Tomorrow, we’re hitting Hooters and a night club in Indianapolis for the bachelorette party. We’ll stay the night there in some hotel. Friday, when we come back, all the bride’s maids and Sarah are getting manicures. Everyone else but me will also be getting pedicures. My toenails are too diabetically-challenged for anyone to Continue reading
