Ammonia

There was a little more ammonia buildup in my fish tank than I liked. It was still technically within safe limits, but I would rather see it lower. So I picked up some ammonia remover tablets. Regardless of how safe fish tank chemicals say they are for fish, I know that doesn’t always mean they’re safe for invertebrates like Buì, my apple snail. I read and reread the box without gleaning Continue reading

Good and bad

First the good: today is Ian and my eleventh anniversary. Eleven whole years…madness. Who’d’ve thought it’d last this long? When we first started dating, we didn’t. But here we are and I’m so happy to have him that sometimes I feel like I might explode from all the happiness. I loven you, Baby Doll! You rock my world. 🙂 (And you keep me sane.) Continue reading

Jingle

bells jingle bells jingle all the way oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh.

I’m thinking it’s time for bed.

Non-fiction fun

I already have one book up on Lulu.com that has been published, namely my Master’s thesis, and I’ve finished writing one novel–the first in a series of nine. It makes me pretty happy to have written two books so far in my life. I’d been forced to put my novels up for about a year now, but I may get a chance to start work on them again soon. However, a project that I’d really like to Continue reading

Argh-thritis

This weather has been nutsy, and as it is with nutsy weather, my joints have been nutsy as well. I take Aleve every day which helps, believe me, but there’s only so much you can do against bad joints. I mentioned in the previous post about how it’ll be nice to get off the couch and get to cleaning, and it’s true I do spend a lot of time on the couch or futon, mainly because of my joints. Continue reading

Long list

We have one of those little dry-erase boards on the fridge, and I’ve pretty well filled it up with things to do around the house on the weekends and in a greater amount in about two weeks. Just random stuff like vacuuming the bedroom and couches, cleaning the closets, rearranging the cabinets in the kitchen, and finally getting the books semi-organized on the bookshelves. All the Continue reading

Busy day

Let’s see, I’ve done laundry, spent the last six hours on work stuff, and started a big pot of chili. I’m beginning to wonder if I’m just allergic to onions because despite the fact that I didn’t chop the nasty little thing (the mom-in-law gave me a mini food processor for the expressed purpose of dealing with the horrid little vegetable) and despite the fact that it was oh, about an hour ago that I Continue reading

I like green

I think somehow I was born hard-wired for the color green. I see lots of green and just feel better–calmer, happier, more relaxed, more peaceful, less irritable, less stressed, etc. The color scheme on my computer is green down to the widget clock I always keep open on the desktop. I prefer green sodas, though a lot of that has to do with the taste (dark colas turn my stomach). I’ve Continue reading

It’s only 1:30?

I prefer to sleep in on the weekends, mostly because I can’t at all during the week. Kitty, however, has had other ideas and has woken me up early both yesterday and today. So rather than get up at 8 or 9, I’ve gotten up at around 6:30 each day. Some weekend. At any rate, because I’ve been so conscious today, I’ve decided to do some random constructive stuff around Continue reading
