Getting ready for NaNoWriMo

Well, I’m getting pretty excited about NaNoWriMo starting up soon. I’m hosting the write-ins at the Jasper Public Library, and I’ve got the signs up already to get people thinking about it. Our director’s husband may join us; he likes to write a lot and is a hilarious guy to be around, so it’d be cool if he came. I mailed information packets out to all the county high schools, middle schools, and to the local college English and Language Arts departments too. It was awesome yesterday afternoon when a student came in asking for flyers to take home with him because his English teacher told him about it. Woot! I’ve also been posting on the NaNo forums about the events, and as a result, a person over in Salem has found out about our write-ins, and it’d be awesome if they could come over even just one Saturday. I don’t know how many people to expect for the first meeting because so far no one has signed up (it’s not really necessary, but I wanted to know how many people would be coming), but I’d be happy if ten people came to the meeting. Exciting!

Now I just need to finish Book 2. It’s getting there…really, really, really slowly. I’ve been crocheting, reading comics, and periodically cleaning (very sporadically, in fact). Actually, last weekend I slept most of the time because my sinuses were acting up so badly, so I got little done then, and then three days this week because a person at work keeps wearing strong perfume. Much more of that and I probably would have ended up with a migraine, but instead I just got horrible headaches for four days that didn’t make me want to write much. I’m off work today and Rook’s not down, so I think I might try turning on some music and getting through the next few scenes. Maybe once I get past these few stubborn chapters the book will practically finish itself. Of course, then there’s the matter of typing it up, but I’ve decided that’ll likely be something for January. After all, I’m gonna work on Book 4 for November and probably finish it in December. Technically, there’s still Book 3 that I still need to edit because it’s been done since this spring. So if I get Book 2 done this month (and typed in January) and write Book 4 in November and December (I’ll be typing as I go), that means I’ll have three books to edit and get ready to publish. Madness! At any rate, I think I’ll make a pot of tea (I just reordered a tin of my favorite type) and see how much I can write today. Even if it’s just a couple chapters before my arthritis starts acting up too much, I’ll be happy to get closer to the end. Yay! Have a fun weekend!
