Asexuality

So I’ve been thinking (in and of itself a bad idea), and I was wondering why asexuality isn’t as illegal as homosexuality. I suppose homosexuality isn’t technically illegal in most states, but it’s unrecognized officially at best and society abhors it at worst. Still, one of the major reasons that most people whinge about homosexuality as being bad is because it simply cannot lead to a procreative relationship (as though the world needs more people or needs to quash love and affection between consenting adults on the basis of ancient [and stupid] cultural beliefs). Well, asexuality (the lack of attraction for either sex and lack of sex drive in general) likewise prohibits procreation. Why isn’t it frowned upon? Or is it frowned upon and I’m missing it somehow? I suppose it’s likely it’s an even smaller minority than homosexuals and bisexuals, so perhaps it’s just not outed enough for people to worry about. Ian alos pointed out that it’s not exactly the easiest thing to prove since it could be mistaken for someone who simply doesn’t want a relationship or is too busy or has bad luck with love. After all, lots of people grow to a ripe old age never having married or been in a serious relationship, and that doesn’t necessarily make them asexual, albeit perhaps leaning a bit toward that category. Dunno. It’s really just a passing thought, and I don’t honestly expect anyone to take this rant seriously. After all, my head has been wrapped up in random novels from the 1800s, a video game about lawyers in the future, and writing a romance about gay men. Can’t say that I’m thinking altogether that clearly, eh? At any rate, felt like rambling. Go back to your normal lives; I’ll be over here in the corner being crazy. 🙂
