Whole lot o’ cataloguin’

Well, it’s my day off (the only one for the next eight days–hooray for extra shifts ’cause that means extra moola!), so of course, what do I do? Library stuff. I’ve spent the better part of the day working on HoL, the Home On-line Library that Ian programmed for me so I can inventory all our stuff. I’m pretty sure that I’ve gotten all the DVDs, though I might not have Sword in theStone or Sleeping Beauty yet. I just didn’t feel like going through the 200+ files to check. So instead, I went through and catalogued all our console games. The Nintendo DS, Gameboy Advance, PlayStation and PlayStation 2, plus the Super Nintendo and Xbox 360. Honestly, we don’t have a lot of console games. I have more DS games than we have PS, Xbox, and SNES games combined. Add my GBA games and I think I’ve got more handheld console games than the four other systems combined. At the moment, I’m working on our CD collection. Nearly all our discs were purchased in high school or early college, and we haven’t really added to the collection much lately. We’re pretty out of touch with contemporary music, to be honest. So far, I’ve catalogued 50 CDs. I think after that, I’ll make some effort to catalogue our PC games. I’ve got almost 20 Infocom games, then there are lots of expansions for The Sims and many random other PC games we’ve picked up over the years. Ian’s pitched most of the boxes and even cases for most of his games, but the information is all on-line so I’m not overly concerned about the loss of the packaging. After all this… Well, that’ll be the 1000+ books. That’s going to be insane. It’s a ways off, however. After all, it’s getting late and I’m not yet done with the CDs. I don’t have another day off for over a week, so it’s not likely I’ll play with this as much as I’m doing right now. I still have Infocom games to beat too. 😉

So it’s back to cataloguing CDs for me. I’m currently up to M in the rock/pop section. After that is classical/celtic, soundtracks/musicals, and other random discs that are collecting dust on the shelves such as Halloween spooky sounds. It’s all something to do while watching X-Files nonstop. Mulder is hot! 😀
