Yesterday was quite the adventure. I would have posted about it yesterday, but I was busy and then went to sleep early because I was pretty exhausted only to constantly wake up due to a persistent cat who kept rolling around on my arthritic legs so I couldn’t get or stay comfortable. So it’s 2:30 in the morning, and I’m posting now. 🙂 Of course, being 2:30 in the morning, this post might just become more rambly than usual, but who could really tell? On a random side note, I sat out on the porch Thursday with my pale white legs kicked up on the wall and got a sunburn on my shins from just under my knees to my ankles. Front of the legs only, of course. Looks pretty doofy.
OK, so first thing, I worked a long shift yesterday because one of my co-workers suffers from really bad sinuses 🙁 and couldn’t come in. So instead of 1-5, I was 9-5. An 8-hour shift generally means walking anywhere from 5 to 7 miles depending on how busy it is. Having a pedometer in my phone is pretty kickass. Though yesterday, I didn’t just run around putting books on the shelves, I got to laminate a bunch of books! Wooohooo! Seriously, I get excited at covering books in plastic. I dunno why, but I could do that all day. Hell, I used to do stuff like that all day when I worked in processing up in the Haute. So I got to cover books for an hour, which was fun, then it was back to putting books on the shelves, which I also enjoy because, uh, I’m OCD like that.
One of our librarian assistants is retiring at the end of April, and there are some other new positions opening up as well. I applied for both the full-time and part-time librarian assistant positions, and this week was the week when the director was planning on meeting with the people who had applied. It was slated for Wednesday, but life being as crazy as it is, it got pushed off to Friday. I didn’t even realize they were doing the interview things until just before they asked me in there, lol. So in a T-shirt and khakis, I got to sit down with them. Guess what? They want me for the full-time position! WOOOHOOO! The requirements for the certification are an Associate’s degree and nine hours of library science courses. Well, I’m sure a Master’s covers the Associate’s and I already have six hours of library science classes from when I was an undergrad. That means I’ll get a temporary license until I can take the final course, probably on-line via IU. Sweet! One of Ian and my original plans was to eventually move to Bloomington where I’d get a degree in library science, and well, here I’m pretty much on my way. 🙂 Too cool.
So I got home with some kinda achy feet and a real thirst (I don’t drink enough while I’m at the library; too much running around, I guess), but I was very happy. Not too long after getting to the house, a very shiny black car pulled up with Rook inside. He hauled his computer out and carried his blankets in and settled in on the futon to immediately start playing WoW. He’s pretty much going to spend his spring break like this, and since he’s easier to take care of than a pet turlte, it’s fine by me. After all, Rook can clean up after himself and feed himself (when he remembers). I got to tell him about the Otaku club starting up at the library (basically and anime fan club), and he got a kick out of it. When Kitty finally annoyed me to the point of getting up and I got up and started putzing around, we woke him up. He’s groggy and making less sense than usual. Pretty funny.
So there’s some spiffy news. I think I’m gonna either play with typing up notes for the novels or working on the Zombie Cookbook. Either way, I’ll likely only be up for a couple hours before going back to bed. Have a good weekend!
CONGRATULATIONS!:
On your new position! I'm so happy for you!
Gratz:
Gratz on the job, I have been informed that I have been accepted to the Transition to Teaching program this summer!
😀 Thanks!:
I'm pretty happy about the new job, even if it doesn't start until May. 🙂 And grats to Lushbaugh on getting into the T2T program! You'll have an easy time of it. After all, you've taught before and are really quick to catch on to everything academic like that. 😀
