Bunch of blurbs

Just a bunch of random things before today really gets into gear. First off, I broke 20,000 words in my novel late last night. I would have gotten there much earlier in the day but I ended up watching a couple documentaries (one on Noam Chomsky and another on Ralph Nader) while playing Animal Crossing for the better part of the evening. I needed only approximately 2,500 words to break 20k anyway, so I wasn’t worried. Still, I’m ahead by about 5,900 now according to the NaNoWriMo schedule I came up with where I presuppose an average of 1,667 words a day to reach 50k by the 30th. I wonder how long before I break 25k. Probably won’t be today, however, because I work until five and then the husband and I are heading to LGT for dinner with the in-laws. We haven’t been there since Grandma’s funeral.

Speaking of work, I’ve spent the past twenty minutes filling out obligatory paperwork. Stuff like emergency information, taxes, direct deposit, etc. I already filled out a lot of this during the past week, but there always seems to be more. Once Ian wakes, I’ll ask him a few questions about the ones on taxes because he has always handled our taxes and I have little to no idea what most of the terms on the paper mean. It’s an awful lot of paperwork for a job where the yearly salary is less than $5,000.

On a sad note, my condolences go out to Mom and Aunt Rachel whose friends had a death in their family: the Cordings’ youngest son recently died in a car accident. I honestly don’t remember Logan very well though I know I’ve met him. It has probably been about ten years since I last saw the Cordings, but they are really nice people, and my heart goes out to them.

I want to say that there was a fifth thing I was going to talk about (or would it be the fourth? I’ve lost count), but I can’t remember what it was. It was likely something about griping about the sudden chill outside, but that’s nothing new to anyone who knows how much I despise the cold. Well, I despise fall, winter, and spring too, but the cold is definitely a year-round annoyance since some places have their AC on far too high in the summer. At least I have afghan projects going so I can keep something extremely warm on my lap while watching movies or brainstorming the next scene in my novel.

On that note, I think I might hop over and start working on the book again. I have some scribbled notes that I must have written in the middle of the night by the light of the streetlamp outside the window by the foot of the bed. One of them cryptically reads (as the writing weaves drunkenly above and below the line): “You’ve captured the captors. Or something like that. It was in my head.” I have absolutely no idea what that refers to. What captors? There are no prisoners that I can think of anywhere in my series, let alone jailors or kidnappers. Seriously, no idea. Maybe having the notebook readily available to write in in the middle of the night is less than a stellar idea after all. At any rate, back to the sensical parts of my notes and my novel. Have a nice day (despite the cold)!

    Was:

I was going to do NaNo but I have little to no interest in it this time around.

Also we were thinking of coming down on the 22nd if that's cool with you guys.

    22nd works for me:

As far as I know, I'm off work that day unless something strange comes up (pages work only one Sunday and one Saturday a month and mine are this week). Ian'll work, but he always works Saturdays. Regardless, we don't need him to have a good time! 😉 We look forward to seeing you two!

Thank you Erin for the kind words…Logan was only 21 years old. (He was born on our 10th wedding anniversary, which meant a lot.) I so dread the viewing and funeral tomorrow and Wednesday. My heart is so heavy these days…
