Library volunteering

Yay! I’m going to be volunteering at the local public library soon. Today was an orientation session, and it was supposed to have four volunteers but ended up with me and another lady whose a retired elementary school teacher. We bascially went over standard library rules, regulations, and procedures–all stuff I’m familiar with already because I’ve worked in both a public library and a university library. It’s going to take a little bit getting used to the Dewey Decimal system again since I got so used to the Library of Congress Classification at ISU. When I catalogue all our books here at the house, it’s going to be LCC, not DDC. I’ve only ever been to the public library here a couple times and I can already take you to most every section there even before today’s orientation. I’m just hard-wired for libraries, and I notice their organization right away. I’ll likely be volunteering on the weekends since most of the other people would rather have those times off. It’s within walking distance (probably not even a mile) so I’ll probably just walk when I go like I have been. Today was a nice day for walking too.

In unrelated news, I made another sale on Etsy today. This time it was to Katie, lol. I mailed it out as well as a turnip jack-o-lantern Dad wanted me to make for Uncle Mike. Not sure about the story behind that one, but it’s in the mail regardless. Also in crafting news, I’m almost done with the blanket I’m making Katie. I’ve got two more edges to put borders on, then it’s just weaving in the ends of the yarn and weaving in ribbon and it’s done. I can probably be finished with it tonight, actually. I’ll take pictures if I remember, and I need to find pictures of the blankets I made for Tommy and Sarah to put up as well. (Sarah’s is still my favotite.) 🙂 Then I think I’ll alternate between Etsy stuff (I’m thinking about making a blanket to sell therE) and the parents’ blankets (my parents and the in-laws). Yup, terribly exciting. Or just terrible. Haven’t decided. At any rate, I don’t feel like typing (hard to tell with as much as I yak) and want to get back to either writing (I <3 pens!) or crocheting. Later!
