K, so I have pictures for some of the things I’ve been making. The snail magnets still aren’t done (I haven’t even made the snails yet, having gotten only about four and a half hours of sleep after going to bed at seven–and Kitty woke me up three times!), so no pictures of them until Saturday, probably. At any rate, I’m gonna go in chronological order starting with those done first. Here we go!
If you click on the picture below, you’ll get a picture of all the different colors and sizes of stitch markers I made, but this is an example of just one of them. It’s at an angle because each stitch marker is convex (that’s just how they happened to shrink) and covered in a sealing fixative, which makes them incredibly reflective to camera flashes. I traced and colored a total of sixteen of these little guys, not including the first batch which didn’t turn out as well as I wanted.

The following is a mix of Halloween themed toy balls that I have made for family members. Another blue eye is in the works; I just need some more white sport weight yarn to finish the other half. The spider has a trail of webbing coming from its top, and the eyes have short optic nerves coming out the back. I plan on making a short vine for future jack-o-lanterns. Below the Halloween mix is the reverse side of a pumpkin I made for Mom. If you click on it, you can see a close-up of its face.

Finally, I have the Fimo polymer clay/wire/glass bead charms that I made last night (and on into the early morning). Like I said, they a little too long, but I think they still turned out pretty well for a first attempt. I’ve only made two other small things with Fimo, and those were snails as well. I already have an idea for a different type of snail charm, and I plan on figuring out a way to use some of the small semi-precious gemstone chips on some snail charms that wouldn’t involve the gems being baked (a lot of gemstones don’t react well to heat over a period of time, and I’m not taking any chances). Like most of the above pictures, if you click on this one, you’ll get a larger picture with a bit more detail.

So there you have it. Some of the many things I’ve been working on. The husband and I are planning on hitting the store a little later, and after we get back, I’m going to launch into making the snails for the magnets. The sooner I make them, the sooner the modeling material has a chance to start drying and the sooner I can assemble them. I’ll probably play with the Fimo clay some more once I’m done with the Crayola stuff, and maybe I’ll get cak to crocheting as well. I’ve got spiders, pumpkins, and eyeballs to make! I also found some snail patterns on-line I’d like to try, which means I’ve found snail patterns I’m likely to turn right around and alter to suit my quirky style of crocheting. 🙂 For the moment, I need some caffeine and some breakfast (I’ve been up since uh, about eleven, so maybe it’s lunch now?) to get going. I’ve got a lot to do today!
