Another tick!

Well, I found another tick late last night (or rather, early this morning after I went to bed sometime after two) except that this one wasn’t on me, it was on Kitty. I figured it’d be best to wait to try and do something about it until Ian was home from work (he had an early shift) so we could help each other hold the cat while one of us removed the tick. It was high on her side near her tail, and let me tell you, it was dug in deep. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a tick so severely attached!

At any rate, I showed Ian where the tick was and he sat on the floor and held Kitty in one arm while I held the fur back so he could get the tweezers around the tick. It took about four or five attempts to pull the tick out (our tweezers aren’t that good and it was really deep). The funny thing is that Kitty didn’t seem to mind. She didn’t squirm, she didn’t whine, she didn’t even really move. She even started curling her toes on Ian’s arm–generally a sign that she’s pretty content. I guess she really wanted that tick gone as well! Once Ian had it (and a clump of fur), he let go of the cat who wandered off lazily. I doused a cotton ball in rubbing alcohol and swiped at her side a few times trying to get at the wound and when she squawked at me, I knew I’d hit it. We gave her a can of gooshy food (I let her pick which flavor and she opted for tuna) for being so good, and now she’s lounging on the back of the couch. I guess the next time we plan on taking her out, we’re going to have to put some anti-tick stuff on her neck before heading out. I guess we’ll have to put some of it on both of us, really. I’m just so proud of how well-behaved she was. I whine more than her when I have a tick on me!
