Meat Meal & Misc.

For the most part, this post is about yesterday’s fun meal and movie with Damien, but I wanted to also throw some other random tidbits in about other random happenings. At any rate, the first bit of business is about food and fun. I was planning on grilling yesterday, but then realized that it would take way too much time and I wouldn’t be able to do the stuff I usually do on Sundays to get ready for the week, so I opted out and Ian took over making what I’m loosely referring to as the “Meat Meal.” Ian had recently made an anti-grill dish which was really awesome, and so this time he decided to do something similar. This time, however, he added kielbasa (also known as Polish sausage) which, while interesting, wasn’t quite a great mesh with the rest of the dish. Maybe mixing the Polish meat with the German meats wasn’t the brightest of ideas. Regardless, it was still good though it might have been better. In addition to the Meat Meal, we had toasted French bread topped with Brie and tomatoes with the addition of chopped basil leaves, which was really good. For dessert we had vanilla ice cream with the following toppings: chocolate syrup, caramel syrup, and sprinkles. While eating all this, we watched The Dinner Game then some of Laser Mission with Brandon Lee. It was a good evening, and we’ll have to do it again soon, maybe this up-coming weekend ’cause we’ll have Rook up. I think we should skip Laser Mission next time though. Bad movie.

So on to other random things. The warmer weather and sun are really doing a good job of clearing up a lot of the incredibly wet and soggy areas around here. There’s a field near Hayesville which has been completely under water for the past several weeks which has just emerged. I’m sure it’s still soggy as heck, but it’s at least visible and looks like a field again. I did hear that it’s supposed to get chilly again soon and that it’s going to rain even sooner. Dippy. Oh well, it’ll be summer before we know it anyway, so no big deal.

I just got an original first edition copy of Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child, Louisette Bertholle and Simone Beck. Talk about a cool book! Everything from different cooking utensils to preparation techniques and lots of traditional recipes are in there, and it’s a book, which is automatically cool. 🙂 I also got in a couple games that were pretty cheap finding them used on-line. I got Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations (which I’ve beaten before but I really loved the game and wanted my own copy) and Pokémon Emerald since with it, I’ll be able to transfer more Pokémon to my Diamond game. Rook told me today that he just beat Pearl, so we’ll be trading Pokémon this weekend, I’m sure. I’ll probably be dividing my evening breaks between various Pokémon games and my recently acquired Cooking Mama 2. So yup, randomness. Now that I’ve gotten my random updates done, I’m gonna go work on something else for a while. I’m thinking laundry or cleaning the living room. Laters!
