Published!

Remember how I recently was putzing around with my thesis to try and get it edited for publication on Lulu.com? Well, last week, I finished editing and Ian finished the cover, and I sent it to Lulu to be published. I ordered a copy for myself and decided I wouldn’t post it until we got a copy to make sure everything was in order. Well, I got my copy today in the mail and am now posting so you can see it! Unfortunately, our camera’s batteries are inexpicably dead (I just put new ones in last week.), so you don’t get a picture of the book itself. However, here is the cover art, which Ian designed, so you can see what it looks like:

Spiffy, eh? If you want to check it out on Lulu (which includes a preview of the first fifteen pages or so of the book), you can take this link here. I rated it “Teen” because of all the language, but to me, it’s an academic treatise and therefore really shouldn’t need a rating, but there you are. So I’m excited to have a second copy of my thesis–one which is more portable and formatted my way. There’s even a little new content–pretty much just the addition of copyright material and cataloguing information on the verso of the title page but there’s also an acknowledgements page as well. So exciting! I don’t expect the book to be much of a hit, but this way I can get copies more easily for future use. So cool. I’m going to go tutor now. I might bring my new book with me. 🙂

    Yay!:

This is exciting! See, this is why you should stick with teaching– you could teach a class on profanity at some point, and you'd have a textbook. 😉

    Very cool!:

Congratulations! And if you used it as a textbook students would love you because it's not $100!! 😉

    Lol:

True, it's pretty cheap at $12. I can't imagine using it in a classroom for the insults, however, but more for the linguistics. The insults are secondary (if not tertiary) to the main goal of the book, after all.
