One-eyed cat

I don’t read the news, and not having cable or satellite, I don’t watch the news either. What news I tend to get is from my officemate who does read the news or from the radio driving to and from work. Oddly, the vast majority of the news I get comes from the webcomics I read. Comics, like sitcoms and stand-up comedians, have the tendancy to deal with topical humor/drama such as the presidency, celebrities, global disasters and triumphs, as well as (if not especially) the freak occurences that grip the nation for all of two days (if that long) before being forgotten and left to moulder in archives where the vague references are soon lost to oblivion.

When webcomics, especially the ones I really enjoy, start popping up with strange references or outright talk about events in the news, sometimes I am intrigued and I go in search of the source of the story. So many of my webcomics are intertwined as the artists are fans of each other and often friends with each other, so when a reference pops up on more than one site, I generally want to find the source of the story. Such was the case today when Questionable Content and Diesel Sweeties both had shirts about a one-eyed cat. I read DS first, and since I don’t get half those strips (It’s not one of my favorites by a LONG shot; I read it because it is often referred to by some of my fav strips.), I didn’t think much of it that I had no idea what they were talking about. But when QC had a one-eyed cat shirt, I figured there had to be more to this. So I googled (What a fun verb!) it, and came up with this Yahoo! news story.

That’s it, really. I don’t know that I have anything else to say to this other than the realization that even bothering to read the news probably wouldn’t make me more informed than reading wecomics. This world is just so strange.

    Had I…:

Had I continued working at Newport, I would have been in some real pretty shit. Vermillion county will also be going on Central Time which means I would have had to get up at 330 am our time to get there on time.

    Two comments:

    1. The cat story is very messed up. I think it is odd that she is keeping the cat next to the bacon and hamburger. I just hope she doesn't stick it in the microwave to have some catsuie…

    2. Yep, our wonderful state officals (i.e. the DoT) have decide that Dubios, Martin, and a few other select counties must start their own state. For fuck sake, why CST… We do the majority of our business with the east coast (cause it is closer and we are lazy by nature)…

    I agree:

What's up with the little chunk of Central in the state? I mean, day-light saving time is stupid enough as it is without mucking it up more by having islands of strange times floating around the state. Stupid day-light saving time.

    Yeah.:

I guess we're supposed to be following Evansville or something. I just question how different this is from how it was before, as it seems awfully similar to me, except maybe more confusing somehow…

    Lol:

Yes, more confusing is exactly how I'd describe it. I couldn't even figure out a way to explain it to the husband earlier when I told him about the article you'd linked. It's insane! Then again, it's Indiana. 😉
