Elliptical

The husband and I went and got a used elliptical machine last night. We had to take the middle seat out of the mom-mobile again, but honestly it’s easier to get groceries and the like in there wihtout that middle seat. Besides, when Simon’s up, it means he gets to stretch out those long legs of his. How’d he get to be so tall, anyway? I’m the tall one, hehe. 😉

So the goal is to lose a bunch of weight. While it’d be nice to have a set date or deadline or something like that, I’m not necessarily going to impose that on myself because I’m depressed enough most of the time without making myself feel worse for not being thinner by an arbitrary date. Aside from general self-esteem, I figure my goals are mostly to feel better and to strengthen my decaying joints. Damned arthritis. I don’t plan on buying a scale because it’s not the pounds that bother me, it’s the … hmm, what’s the word? The feeling? The look? The giant-ass tire I’ve got wrapped around my midsection? Something along those lines; you get the point. So hopefully I can fight my anti-routine nature to regularly work out on it. We’ll see how that goes. But it’s a start, to say the least.

    Need a goal…:

    I understand that you don't want to set a weight goal, but you should set some kind of goal for yourself. Most people that don't have goals usually don't get very far. You could just tell yourself that you want to work out 3 times a week or do at least 15 minutes of cardio at a time. That way you have a bit of a plan, but nothing that you can't do. Know what I mean? Have fun with your new machine!

    Future reference::

    knock-knees + an elliptical = intense pain

    1.5 min: My knee caps feel like they are about to pop off.

    2 min: Knees try to buckle inward.

    2.5 min: Pain now shooting outwards from my knees both up and down my legs.

    3 min: Standing next to elliptical getting feeling back.

    Rinse. Repeat. Ouch.

    Cool!:

    I'm looking into a used treadmill (I like running). Good luck with the exercise! And maybe we should find Talam something else to do. Ow!
