Google rankings and tea

Adagio teas, the website where I have been getting almost all of my teas lately as well as where my IngenuiTea is from, has this promotion where you put a link to them on your website and they send you a free sample based on your Google page rank. So a rank of 0-2 gets a single sample, a rank of 3-4 gets a four-pack of tea, and a rank of 5 or more gets a four-pack of tea plus an IngenuiTea. I’ve had the link to Adagio up on my page for a while, and I remember the older sis talking about doing this on her page as well some time ago. I figured, heck, why not? So I filled out their form and sent it in. Now I’m curious as to what in the world a “page rank” is.

So I went to Google and typed my webpage’s name in the bar with quotation marks around it. My page popped up first on the list, go figure. So then I typed it without the quotation marks, and my page came up on the sixth page. Now I know that page ranking can’t possibly mean what page the site turns up on through a search ’cause that’s just backwards compared to the rewards. So I went to Google’s help pages and wandered around a bit, but other than finding that they use a hundred different elements when they rank pages, I really didn’t find anything useful that could help me locate what my page’s rank is. I mean, I figure it’s like a 0 or 1, but I’m curious as to where people go to find these things. If anyone has a clue, lemme know ’cause I’ve been bit by the curious bug and wanna know how people find a page’s Google rank.

    Woohoo 2!:

For some reason I dropped to a 4 from a 6 after I switched to my main domain and off of Blogger. Google owns Blogger so I wonder if I'm being punished some how?

It could be a couple of things.:

A lot of the places that used to link you might still be linking katiefleck.blogspot.com, which means the number of links to your site has dropped. But it is a common feeling that they do pushish those who leave them.
