Too many little projects…

I&#039ve come to realize that when I don&#039t have a major project due for class or some other school-related activity, that I fill my time up with lots and lots of little projects, most of which never see fruition. Take, for instance, this passage I&#039ve been working on for about a week now for my fourth novel. It&#039s pretty much all written out, it&#039s just not typed up on the computer. The reason? I&#039m not entirely sure, but part of it has to do with the fact that I&#039m still in the process of copying my rough draft on notebook paper so that I have a much neater copy for my files. I know that most people don&#039t like writing rough drafts on paper first, preferring to simply do it all on the computer, but since I don&#039t have a computer to carry around with me while on campus, I write everything on paper first. That and I like to have a hard copy anyway. Oh, and the other reason it hasn&#039t gotten typed up: EverQuest 2.

The next project involves the Christmas gifts I&#039m making for my co-workers and classmates. I got some scrapbooking paper, some stickers, and stamps, and I&#039m making bookmarks with quotes on them. They&#039re not overly elaborate, but they all take time especially since I&#039m doing it all by hand rather than printing them up on the computer, and I&#039m braiding the cords which takes that much longer. Why haven&#039t I finished this yet? Part of it is due to the fact that I just started doing this about two days ago, and another part is the fact that my desk is so cluttered that I have to work on the floor or the bed, and I hate having to get everything out only to put it back up again so we can walk around or sleep. The other reason why this isn&#039t done? EverQuest 2.

Another mini project that I just started actually began as an idea several months ago but never took off then. I just started really working on it yesterday so it&#039s not like this project has been sitting around on a shelf for a while. I decided some time back that it would be fun to have little mood icons on my page, something like the ones my sister has on hers, but I would draw them all myself and they would be weather-based. Seeing as how the weather tends to have a direct effect on me physically and mentally, I thought that little weather icons would suit me fine. So far I&#039ve made two: Sunny and Partly Sunny/Cloudy. I&#039ve been meaning to rearrange the page some anyway, and this would give me incentive to do so, I think. Reasons for why I&#039m not working on this now? Well, I&#039m hungry and really ought to go eat, I need a shower, and I should also take out the trash (there are soda cans everywhere). The reason why I wasn&#039t working on it this morning and early afternoon? Yet again, EverQuest 2.

So I suppose that if I were to just sit down, clean off my desk and set to work, I&#039d get these mini projects done more quickly. I suppose that if I also were to slow down on my EverQuest 2 playing, that I&#039d also have more time to work on all these little things. Not to worry though; I&#039ve spent years of my life procrastinating on hobbies and the like, so I won&#039t let it get to me. 🙂

    Everquest2!:
Yep, I'm having the same problems. Well that and puking doesn't help my lack of getting anything productive done.
