I own a car.

Well, technically, it&#039s a van, a &#03992 Dodge Grand Caravan the color of black cherry candles, but it&#039s still a vehicle, the first I&#039ve ever owned. That actually hit me about twenty minutes into the drive home with it from Loogootee: I own it. I own it. It&#039s mine. I actually own a vehicle. I mean, it&#039s a minivan and not a truck like I&#039d originally planned on getting, but it runs smoothly and handles pretty great, so it&#039s actually pretty wicked cool. There&#039s that and I paid all of two hundred bucks for it (plates and insurance not included), which makes it even more insanely cool. My parents are going to miss it since they&#039ve had it since 1996, but they got my sister&#039s old van (which is technically way newer than the one I have) and didn&#039t need this one anymore. I just can&#039t believe that I have a car. I have something to drive. I have something to drive to do laundry, go grocery shopping in, haul all my friends to the movie in, and something to drive across the state to my sister&#039s in. I have a van. I&#039m just so dumbfounded that I can&#039t really think of anything else right now (well, that and I&#039m tired from a bad night&#039s sleep, a long day doing physics at work, a long drive to LGT and a long drive back) because it&#039s just so strange, so unusual, so unlike me to have anything to drive that&#039s mine. <Shakes head in amazement> Wow. Just… wow.

The Wheels on the Minivan go round and round, round and round…:
Course your minivan isn't as uniquely dinged up as Mom and Dad's current minivan. *feigns innocence*

I was going to congratulate you on the minivan and then read Katie's post. Oh yeah, that vehicle likes fire hydrants doesn't it?

Then I thought ok, no need to comment like that, but then I read the next comment and was so dumbfounded that I couldn't think of commenting in any way other than to say what I have now. :p

Have fun with your first vehicle! I'm sure you'll get great use out of it. I'm happy for you, sincerely. 🙂

    Er…:
Interesting responses to the announcement of our newest familiy member, the Mom-mobile. I'm glad the minivan's not attracted to hydrants or telephone poles or garages or other vehicles… Not sure what to think of the second post. I'm still trying to decide if I know anyone by the name of Faeryn. And yes, Miller, there will probably be some hauling of drunk asses around in the Mom-mobile. 🙂
