"Nothing can be created out of nothing." -Lucretius
Yay! I have lots of new stuff! I've been meaning to update this for a while now about all the things I've been making/getting in my life, but uh, I'm lazy so get over it. 🙂
So we'll start with the desk. Some of you may recognize my old desk, the corner desk covered in books that I inherited from my husband when he got his larger desk a couple years back. My desk had a few shelves and there was a little counter space, but not nearly enough for a Ringwald (scroll down to find the rule) of my cluttering nature. So recently, the husband and I went shopping, and I found a desk at Staples that looked pretty sweet. We waited until the weekend when a friend with a pickup could come get it for us, then I spent the evening putting the actual desk part together. I had to move everything off the old one first and then move it into Kitty's room with Ian's help. Since all that screwing made me really sore and tired (Haha, get it? Screws? Screwdriver? Never mind.), I decided to put the table off until the next day only to have Ian put most of it together before he was tired too. I have since cluttered my desk up without having moved all my old stuff into it yet! Oops! That will actually require some thought though because I have to determine what I want to move back and what doesn't need to go on the desk anymore. One thing I have yet to move back is my flower arrangement that I made some time ago just for kicks. I really like it. It needs to be on my desk somewhere.
Onto the sewing machine! I borrowed my dad's Singer quite some time back, but since it seriously needed a new needle, I really didn't do anything with it for the longest time. Even then, when I got a new needle, I couldn't seem to get it to work for me consistently, not a good thing since I've decided to pick up some minor sewing skills. I finally decided it was time for a new machine, so I called my sister to ask about brand names, and she gave me several suggestions and things to look for. After getting off the phone with her, I grabbed the husband and we ran to Wal-Mart where I picked up my new machine, a Brother. I haven't actually sewn anything with it yet because I'm still working on getting through the manual (Yes, I am one of those freaks who reads the instructions before using something.) and haven't even threaded it yet. I'll probably work on that later. For now, I'm just happy to have so many new toys! Kitty loves it too because she's really into sewing. She even loves the material I picked for the sundress I'm going to make and would sit on it regardless of where I put it. I put a few scrap pieces on her back and made her look like a kitty-turtle. Her eyes even match the material. 🙂
That's the excitement in my life so far. I still have lots of cleaning to do, and there's still this dress to sew up. I don't know how much time I'll have because I have a lot of work to do for my French prof, and I'm going to Delaware at the end of this week… But those stories for another time. Enjoy all the pics!

Very cool!:
But you're not a Ringwald anymore, shouldn't you have dropped that habit? 😉 Everything looks great, have fun sewing!
Oh yeah?:
Well, you're no longer a Ringwald either, so shouldn't you have lost the fertility? <Snicker> Once a Ringwald, always a Ringwald. 🙂
Well:
Technically… yeah. 😉
Hmmmm:
Maybe you should just say…
"You can take the Girl out of the Ringwald name, but you can't take the Ringwald out of the newly named Girl".
:p
Oh….:
I forgot to put my name on that post.
BTW I liked seeing the pictures too! 🙂
Pics it is:
Since we've got the camera, I might have to put pics in my posts more often now. 🙂 They seem pretty popular, lol.
