Long weekend!

&#034Sunday clears away the rust of the whole week.&#034 -Joseph Addison

Phew, the weekend is over. I gotta say that while I didn&#039t do a whole lot, I&#039m still pretty wiped out. It&#039s funny when the week becomes a break from the weekend, lol.

My little bro Simon had been up at our apartment since Thursday, and while we didn&#039t do a lot Thursday, Friday we spent the afternoon playing video games and talking about DnD (&#039cause he wants to learn the game so he can play with his friends). We went grocery shopping after the husband got home, and by the time we got back it was late. Saturday morning I got woken up by the @#$%^&* telemarketers at Discover, and Simon and I went to do laundry with our friend Lushbaugh where we taught him more DnD stuff. Back home, I screwed around with the sewing machine which seemed like it wanted to screw me over more than actually working right. I did manage to sew up another dice bag, though it took a long time. Saturday night was spent playing DnD, which I think Simon enjoyed despite the rowdiness of my friends. We played until WAY too late (The husband had to work at seven, and it was about three or four hours past when Simon normally goes to bed.), and didn&#039t get back to the apartment until past one thirty. I mean, we had fun and everything, but my brain was fried. I got up around eight in the morning to pee, then got up again around ten. I sat around with Simon explaining more DnD stuff (Gee, we did that a lot this weekend.), and then we went with Lushbaugh to see the latest Harry Potter movie, then we ran by the mall to get Simon some DnD books. Admittedly, we had to get him the 3.5 version books, but if his friends decide to get their own books, it&#039d be easier for them to find the 3.5 version than the 3.0 that we all use on Saturdays. So Simon will have to relearn a few things, but the basics remain the same. By the time we got back to the apartment, the husband was home from work, and not long after that, the &#039rents showed up to grab Simon. Dad managed to fix the machine by looking at it, and I bid on some phonebook from Watervliet, New York for Mom which is 63 years old. I won it, by the way, along with ten Asprin books which makes me a hundred times more happy than the ancient phonebook. I also bid on some dice for my friend, so hopefully I can get those for him. After that, it was nap time for me and the husband. I set the alarm to get up in time to see Mom&#039s auction finish, then I stayed up talking to Dave, Nick, and Ben for a while. Around midnight, I went back to bed where the husband had been sleeping with the cat the whole time. I got up this morning, got dressed, came to work and am bouncing back and forth between my e-mail and the manual that I&#039m re-editing. Fun!

So, nothing major is on the slate for today. I really need to do dishes and take the trash out, so depending upon whether or not the weather gives me yet another headache (I had one yesterday from noon until about midnight.), we&#039ll see how much I get done. Cleaning really should be done. At any rate, I&#039m going to type up more editings. Later!

    You eBay fanatic!:
How much did you pay for the phone book, by the way? And give me a call after work if you need help with the sewing machine. We were out of town all weekend and I just got your message.

You'd never guess how much a 63-year-old phone book costs…:
    $77.89

Yeah, sooooo not kidding. I just got an e-mail from them about sending a check to them and then they'll mail it out. Craziness.

For a ratty old phone book?:
I take it your mom collects these things for some reason only those in Indiana would know about eh?

She's doesn't watch Crank Yankers on a regular basis does she?

Glad I never lived in that town 63 years ago. I'd hate to get a call at 3 in the morning that wakes up The Wife. hahaha!

Well, there is some method to the madness…:
Mom's mom is from that little town in New York, and we don't know much about where she grew up since we've never really visited up there, so Mom figured that if we got this phone book, we could look up the Donnellys and maybe even find the house where Grandma grew up. <Shrug> So it's more of a geneology thing and not so much a collector's thing.

    Oh OK:
Now I'm not as worried about your family as I was when I first read this post.

All I could imagine was all you kids gathered around the phone with your mom calling places like the local store and asking if they had Prince Albert in a can. And when the merchant answering "yes", then you all yell, "well you better let him out!" and hang up.
