Just one more day of repetitively helping students make their schedules and then it’s finally the weekend! Huzzah! The scheduling system is going to be down after today until next Thursday for routine maintenance. Students will still come in for scheduling help Monday through Wednesday, but it should be less insane. No lines of students backing up, no piles of folders to have to update, Continue reading
I have magic powers!
Okay, so it’s not so much magical as logical, but I do have at least one silly ability that I find most fascinating. I can put people to sleep! This revelation isn’t anything new to me. I discovered this a while back when my cousins from Vermont were down back in junior high school. We’d stay up incredibly late, and eventually everyone would be immensely exhausted but incapable of sleep. Continue reading
Bleah
I really don’t have any one thing to ramble about, but I feel like posting anyway so we’ll just see where this rant goes. I’m substituting for Susan, my supervisor, again this week and next because she’s flying back down to Florida for take #2 of her daughter’s wedding (the first attempt was hurricaned out). I get to grade their in-class presentations. My class is doing theirs next week. I’ve Continue reading
Sinuses
My sinuses have taken over much of my life right now. Thankfully, Aleve Cold & Sinus seems to do a pretty decent job, and in addition, I don’t have to take both the cold medicine and arthritis medicine because it’s all in the same pill. Here’s to hoping that this mucus (sp?) fest goes away soon. I’m getting sick of the headaches and constantly blowing my nose. The constant fatigue has Continue reading
A wonderful evening
Despite the headache gleaned from teaching two classes, advising more students than I’d like to count and general other running around here at work, when I got home yesterday I decided that the husband and I should do something. I had suggested to him the day prior that he might really enjoy shooting the Terre Haute House since it’s half destroyed and the rubble is fascinating to look Continue reading
Bye bye, HP.
Well, the day finally came where I had to retire my old HP laser-jet printer here at work. It was some old model from back in ’98 and it was (clearly) the oldest printer in the building. Being the oldest printer, there were, of course, no replacement cartridges for it anywhere to be found. <Sniff> It was a good printer, a nice printer. I almost never had any problems with it except for Continue reading
Meh
I’ve got about a half an hour before I get pulled away for an advisor’s meeting at three. I really don’t have much of anything to say, but I felt like typing or writing or doing something other than grading or responding to my students’ e-mails. I have the novel here and was working on it (editing, mostly) for a bit, but then I had a run of students and am paranoid to start up again. Continue reading
ID
ID or “intelligent design” is funny in so many ways. Its inception as an explanation to the creation of the universe and all the life in it tries to parallel other creationist beliefs counter to a purely scientific route. It has spawned many hilarious parodies such as the almighty Flying Spaghetti Monster, and it has become the butt of jokes of organizations and institutions all over the place, rebutted even by Continue reading
Thpppbt
Fucking tired. Students started coming in early today. Normally students don’t start showing up for advisement until ten-ish, but today some were coming in during the eight o’clock hour. Susan also had her entire class come up to the center to work on their class projects but also for advising (which she didn’t tell me or Heather about until the last minute), so several came in around ten. Continue reading
Happy Dent Day!
Happy Dent Day! Today is the day that I was endowed with the dent. Or would it be indowed? Hehehe. At any rate, I don’t have time for a big post or anything since I have to go teach in about ten minutes, but I at least wanted to post something since I haven’t in a couple days or thereabouts. Students constantly coming in and grading off and on keep me from doing much Continue reading
