Next Iron Chef

I’m still surprised that Symon won The Next Iron Chef competition. Originally, I wanted Morou to win, but when he was bumped off, I figured Besh would get it. But nope, Symon won it. It was a fun little series. I’m just annoyed that Sanchez didn’t get kicked off second episode ’cause he was kind of crazy. It’s also sad the two girls both got kicked off so quickly. Oh well, it’ll be Continue reading

Rook: snake catcher

The husband and I celebrated our five-year wedding anniversary yesterday, so he came down to hang out. He left this evening and called me when he got home to tell me he’d gotten there safely. I was on Rook’s cell phone, and it was making a lot of staticky noise, so I left the room and went upstairs to see if it’d get better. It really didn’t, so I came back down to my cave and pulled back Continue reading

Mind-numbingness

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way. Oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh. Kitty gets the left half of the loveseat; I get the right half. I’ve been playing Animal Crossing: Wild World rather excessively lately. I’m trying to see if the Gulliver guide I found on-line works or not. Was that sentence syntaxically sound? Dunno. I just bruised my leg with my laptop. One Continue reading

Mornings

So far this week, I’ve meant to post about cooking, job searching, the clarinet, and the cat, and I just haven’t gotten around to it somehow. Instead, I’ve been cross stitching like crazy and watching Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Not a whole lot going on around here. Tonight I tutor, tomorrow I have Knit Wits, and this weekend is my cousin Eric’s wedding. As for the other Continue reading

07/07/07

Kind of a fun date, n’est-ce pas? I bet there are a whole lot of superstitious people out there who’ve decided today’s the day to do important things because they think it will bring them luck, or something. I heard on some news show a couple weeks ago when I happened to be around a television with cable that there are going to be a lot of weddings today, again, probably due to the Continue reading

Walking

I’m a bit stiff right now, but it’s the good kind of stiff that comes from moving around a lot. Walking to and from the ISU or Vigo County library takes about twenty-five minutes each way which makes for almost an hour total walking time. It’s warm out (Odd that, since it’s summer, after all.) which means I end up sweaty and stinky from my walks, but since it’s really just Ian Continue reading

Vaguely conscious

I don’t know if it’s the sudden drop in liquid intake (We’re out of Mello Yello and really can’t afford to buy more, and I’m not a big fan of just drinking water anymore.) or caffeine intake (I drink far less tea than Mello Yello, so a cup of tea a day versus three sodas a day isn’t quite leveling out.) or just activity intake (not working means not much moving around), but I’ve been Continue reading

An Old Salt

Saturday, I made mint chocolate chip ice cream in the ice cream maker that Ian’s parents gave us back in 2003. Packing the thing with ice and rock salt left my hands both frozen stiff and salty for quite a whilte. Sunday, the husband and I helped Lushbaugh move his 90-gallon salt water aquarium from the old house to this one, and in the process I ended up getting a lot of salt water Continue reading

Typing

I’m not entirely sure why I’m posting; I just felt like typing. It’s early yet, or at least, it feels early since I’ve been at the office since 8 o’clock. I feel like doing research or working on the novels or drawing more paper fish. I don’t feel like writing lesson plans or grading papers or any of the other numerous things I ought to be doing while here at the office. I probably shouldn’t Continue reading

Tums for the office

I’ve hit another one of those bouts of near-constant heartburn where my throat burns so much that I feel like throwing up almost all the time. I’ll get heartburn every day off and on for hours for about a week, then it will gradually subside until the next random attack within a couple weeks or so. I’m thinking about this because I’m sitting in the office where I don’t have any Tums or any Continue reading
