Clothes and the cat

Kitty has a thing for lying on my clothes. It’s probably related to how infants feel better and do better when they sleep if the parents put their own blankets and pillows in with the kid. It’s the scent that makes them feel better. Kitty really like my clothes. Sure, she’ll sit on Ian’s clothes if they’re in her way, but she goes out of her way to sleep on top of one of my T-shirts or a pair of Continue reading

R.I.P. Cthulu

Cthulu, the great monster of the deep [fish tank], has passed on. 🙁 It is a sad day for snail gods everywhere. She will be missed. I was switching fish tanks from the little gallon and a half to the two gallon since Ian and I were rearranging the living room and cleaning anyway, and I found her lying on the bridge. She had a good life…after I took her out of Squeak’s tank. She was a good Continue reading

Fur

Well, Kitty’s shedding like mad, as per usual. I mean, she is a cat and all. She’s getting a lot softer now though because she’s losing all that dry winter fur. The thing is that as much as I love my furball, I don’t want to love her before coming in to work because then I look like I’m the cat because of all the fur covering my shirt. Seriously, I hardly wear black or white shirts anymore Continue reading

Pet Apple Snail baby, anyone?

Well, the two “baby” apple snails grew up a lot faster than I thought they would. Likewise, they spawned a lot faster than I thought they could. I might have to do some more research on these guys because they may not be apple snails at all. Their eggs are underwater unlike Cthulu’s which are above the waterline (By the way, she has laid another clutch in one corner by the lid.), and Continue reading

Snail trails

Well, I really ought to stop referring to Cthulu as “he.” “He” laid all sorts of little white eggs on the lid of the tank. And I wondered why the snail was spending so much time up there out of the water. So Cthulu’s a girl, but seeing as how she hasn’t been around any other snails for over a year, chances are the eggs are infertile. Female apple snails can store sperm in their bodies for a Continue reading

New fish

So I am finally sane/awake enough to introduce the latest addition to the Doyle household: GJ!

GJ

GJ stands for Gus Jr. because I already have a gargoyle on my desk named Gus. GJ is a fancy-tailed guppy, and he’s in with Cthulu to keep the snail company, and boy does he! He has taken to following the snail around or just swimming around him in circles like a pesky little brother. Continue reading
