*Snore* *drool* it’s Friday

Friday. Most people would be thrilled to know it’s Friday, but for me, it has to be the most boring day of the week. See, even though I teach on Tuesday and Thursday, I still at least have stuff to do on Monday and Wednesday. Fridays, however? Fridays are spent doing random shit like making posters and magic wands and updating the webpage and archiving comics and working on Continue reading

OMG, I’m BORING!

So I decided to take a break from my grading during my lunch hour so that I could give my hand a rest. I’ve gone through about 50 papers with about 75 or so left to do, so I figure I’m due a break being about over a third of the way through. I grabbed an article for my thesis and began reading. It’s a twenty page article about the French suffix -aille, discussing its use and morphology and Continue reading

Arthritic grading

Well, I officially have far more papers to grade than I can easily calculate mentally. My goal when I left here yesterday was to spend the whole day grading as much as possible, and I still plan on attempting that as soon as I finish messing with e-mails and clearing off enough of my desk to put them all. The reason why I’m only going to attempt doing this rather than succeed in doing this Continue reading

Meningitis

So I spent the majority of my time here at work playing around with my thesis. I didn’t bother going out for lunch, having pretzels and a cup of ravioli at the office. I was waiting around for the phone call to tell me that my student loan check had been reissued (They sent the last one to the old address and the post office didn’t forward it.) so I could go deposit it. While sitting around in Continue reading

Happy birthday, big sis!

Yup, the big sis is now a whopping 28. If she didn’t live all the way on the edge of the country, I’d probably have tried to come up with a way to go say hey, but as it is, I’ll probably end up calling her once my brain effin’ wakes up. As it is, I’m on the husband’s machine which is beginning to piss of my groggy brain because of his dying ergo keyboard. I need to put my computer desk back Continue reading

I need me some bagpipe music

I think that I technically forgot to eat lunch today. I had some doughnuts for breakfast, so that was some sugar early on, then I munched on pretzels and an apple when my stomach decided it was hungry, probably around lunchtime; I don’t rememeber. I had a soda in there somewhere too. I’m not overly concerned. It’s not like I wouldn’t live for a couple months on my body fat anyway. Continue reading

Academia

I get college. I understand the whole idea of a freshman experience. I understand the things that administrators go through to bring to and retain students at a university. I get the advising shtick. I’m one with teaching and learning. I just get college and the whole experience here. Continue reading

Nightmare

I now have a link to the Nightmare Passages on the Writing page. The four excerpts are all linked the Nightmare Passages page itself which explains a little more fully what the basic plot of the fifth book is, the book in which these exerpts will someday appear as part of a complete whole. Typed up, the excerpts total about twenty-eight pages, the fourth one being the longest as well as the end Continue reading

Avoidance

I can’t figure out what to write in chapter one of my thesis (the introduction) since I generally treat introductions as the place where I put my thesis statement and an outline of the rest of the paper. Seeing as how I haven’t written the rest of the paper and have yet to come up with a good outline for it, I haven’t been able to work on chapter one like I wanted to the past week…or two. So I e- Continue reading

Sore feet and a sore throat

Tuesdays are really hell on my feet and my throat. I teach at eleven in the morning and therefore stand and talk for an hour. Then I run back to the office to drop stuff off and pick stuff up for the next class. After about a half an hour, I go to the French Table at 12:30 and talk there for an hour during lunch. I have a little time between the French Table and my two o’clock class, but most of Continue reading
