Cold sucks. I don’t care what people say about “Well when you’re cold you can always put more clothes on but when you’re hot you can’t take anymore off” because that’s a bunch of bullshit. I never get so hot that I feel horrible rotten sick whatever. I don’t get too hot; it’s just not possible. At least, not here in Hoosier-land with its 90 degree whether and 100% humidity. I might get Continue reading

Math and me
Okay, so I did some math (scary thought) and I figured out that with 17 days left to finish my thesis, if I write anywhere from two to four pages a day, I’ll be able to add another 34 to 68 pages by March. Sweet! That’s not too bad considering that it’s generally an average. Some days I may be able to write more and some days I may not be able to write at all (mentally or physically). So Continue reading
Thesising 2
OK, I’m going to try this again. I was posting just a few minutes ago while I was destroying lunch (Goddamn you, rice, goddamn you!) and we had a series of strange power surges or something which caused both Knave and Brannagh to reset a few times. Buster, having a battery, was unaffected. At any rate, the point of the post is to go on at silly length about the thesis some more, Continue reading
Barbeque tea?
While I doubt there’s any barbeque teas out there, I am getting two new types soon. Adagio is running a Valentine’s special where you can get two blooming teas for the price of one. I’ve always wanted to try a blooming tea; they’re just pretty to look at. Of course, I might also have to get a different cup for it because I don’t know that the glass mug I have now will hold a blooming tea Continue reading
Thesising
Well, I’ve been working on the thesis pretty much every day, all day long here at the office, so I think I’m making some headway. I also e-mailed my committee about my “progress” and told them how I’m doing and that since I’ve got so much tea, I’ll never go uncaffeinated during this writing slam. I’m sure that may have unnerved them a bit, but go figure. They should all know I’m a Continue reading
Musings of a caffeine addict
So I have about uh, 60 or some-odd varieties of tea, as is evident on my tea page, and we all know from the crack-like giddy state which most people experience the Erando-maniac in, that I’m well, addicted to caffeine. Not that I see anything wrong with this, mind you. The body adjusts to having that caffeine and compensates in whatever ways it does that, and the only drawback is Continue reading
Raving from behind the snowfort
I ended up spending two and a half hours on the phone yesterday afternoon, meaning I left work about an hour and a half later than usual at around six o’clock. After a point, I just start sounding like a recording–a very cheery and retarded recording. I hate forcing “cheer” into my voice. I grumbled something about this after hanging up the phone, and Susan down the hall shouted, “You Continue reading
Dunno if anyone’s noticed…
I guess I’ve been missing a bit from the webpage. Not too big of a deal; half my posts blather about advising or the thesis and this one’s not likely to be much different. I have about a half a dozen projects lined up and just waiting to be finished here on the site, the thesis has got to be done by March 1, so my workdays have been spent bouncing between it and the students Continue reading
Frenching
I came across this…interesting paragraph in a book that I’ve been taking notes from for my thesis. I’ll get to the paragraph in a moment, but first a bit on the book. It has already become somewhat popular here in the office due to its very nature. It’s a book devoted to national, racial, ethnic, sexist, what-have-you slurs. I’m writing a thesis on insults, so why not? It’s a fun book in its Continue reading
