Il est quatre heures et demie

Well, it’s 4:30 in the morning. I don’t plan on getting any sleep tonight. I’ve been grading papers/writing tests/working on lesson plans since about two yesterday afternoon and I’m still not done. Admittedly, there was laundry-doing mixed in there along with some time fixing food and the like, but still, it grows old. I plan on grading two more classes’ worth of work in addition to writing up Continue reading

This is neat!

I’ve been working a bit on the presentation I’m going to give tomorrow for a movie, and since I’ll be talking about slang and swearing, I dragged out the Thesis (aka Jerry) to flip through the appendixes (for some odd reason the grad school doesn’t use “appendices”) for a few choice words to use as demonstration for the audience. Since Jerry’s out on the desk, I got to thinking Continue reading

Oi!

Eh bien! C’est absolument impossible de penser maintenant. A vrai dire, c’est toujours difficile à penser après les classes le lundi, le mercredi, et le vendredi. La problème est que ma tête est toujours dans les nuages de français et surtout mon cerveau est plein des pensées des leçons et des devoirs. Mes étudiants ont tant de questions que chaque jour j’ai une rivière de l’encre au dos Continue reading

Day half over

Well I must say that the presentations this morning went far more smoothly than I expected. They were a pleasant change of pace from the normal classroom activities, so the students were much more active as well. Plus, the sun’s out which means warmer temperatures and warmer responses from everyone around here. Hell, I’m even feeling less harried and frazzled than usual though I’m Continue reading

A long November

Well, this is going to be a long couple weeks. The French Film Festival is going on now, and I’m helping out with several of the days which means I’ve got to be on campus between a quarter of seven at night until after nine. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are always long days because I teach four classes pretty much in a row (three in a row, one wimpy hour break, and then the last Continue reading

Garbled

I find my hair braids very well. It’s now at a good length for it, and it holds to it incredibly well with minimal frizzing, which is the important part. I took a picture of my braided hair yesterday and might put it up here if I have the brain cells for it. Therefore, probably not. I spent all of last night grading papers and will probably spend a portion of tonight doing the same. Continue reading

GàDcV!

I’m so happy it’s Friday. I’m going to go home, type up a worksheet for my advanced class, maybe grade through a class or two here and there just to get a few stacks of tests out of the way, and then spend the rest of the night playing Animal Crossing and watching Voltron on our comfy-ass couch. Maybe I’ll start working on the presentation I’m going to give November 15 (Dent Continue reading

Tootsie Rolls roxor

Sorry, no TKT this week unless I somehow manage to churn one out later tonight. I’ve got piles of papers and tests to grade and I’m just going to get more tomorrow after one of my classes takes their exam. I figure I have time enough to post, but I don’t have the hour or so it takes to write up a TKT (sometimes even more). Besides that, I really didn’t have a topic in mind anyway beyond Continue reading

Follow-up

So the answers to yesterday’s riddles are: 1) What word in English changes pronunciation (and meaning) just by capitalizing it? (Lushbaugh got it:) Polish and polish; and 2) What word in English changes not only pronunciation and stress but also number and gender just by adding a letter? princes (stress on first syllable, masculine, and plural) becomes princess (stress on second Continue reading

TKT #11

Stress

Hi again! Gee, I sure haven’t been updating at all lately, have I? Something I’ll have to fix once my life gets in some semblance of order. Say, next spring?

But that’s not important right now. What’s important is learning! And for today’s Thirsty for Continue reading
