First flowers of the year from our flower bed. I recognize the rose (center) and yellow iris but have no idea on the other three.

They look like peonies Hon. Did they come off of tall bushes with alot more of the same flower? They may even have a slint scent to them too! I have dark red, pink and white peonies, but they won't be blooming for at least two or three weeks here…:(

I took a couple to work and they were instantly recognized by everyone there but me, lol. Oddly, someone turned in a book on peonies just after we opened! These have a really, really strong scent (or at least they do to my screwy sense of smell) and are apparently called a "bomb" peony because of the explosion of petals in the middle. Ours are dark red and white with pink outer petals. Most of the flowers are still big round buds though. I'm looking forward to getting more roses soon! Too bad our roses are [b]covered[/b] in thorns!
