It’s pretty grey and drizzly outside today which means it’s a good day for staying inside and doing something from the comfort of a warm couch with an afghan on my lap and some hot cocoa beside me. That sounds awesome, only I go in to work within the hour and won’t get home until four, so my novel writing time will just have to wait until then. I can’t say that it bothers me too much to have to delay working on the book. I have the next chapter more or less figured out in my head for how it is supposed to go, but after that starts the actual tournament and I’m going to have to come up with a way to describe fight scenes. Bleh!
We had the Lushbaughs down this weekend. They came down Saturday afternoon, and we all went to the Schnitzelbank for lunch where we gorged ourselves on sausages, sauerkraut, German potatoes, and beer (excluding the husband from the last one). Then we watched movies here at the house long into the night before everyone finally collapsed. They left Sunday morning, and I would have to say a good time was had by all. 🙂 We don’t see Jamie and Mike enough, but maybe we’ll see them over New Year’s depending on our schedules.
After they left, I putzed around on the computer a while playing WoW and then watching TV episodes on hulu.com. Around the time Ian came home from work, I had begun work on the novel once more. The last chapter in the book has been more or less written for quite some time now though in bits and pieces and with a bunch of notes. I printed out the notes I had in single-spaced 10 point Times Newe Roman font with .79″ margins all around and it ended up being five pages long. Then I went through labeling all the notes with numbers to determine where each piece would fit in the puzzle. Finally, I typed it all up, and the chapter ended up being thirteen pages long (the margins of the book are far, far more narrow to fit a 6×9 inch book). So I went from 79k words to 86k words last night. I’m 14k away from breaking 100k, and there are still seven days left in NaNoWriMo. I think I can make it so long as I figure out how to write fight scenes and can get through the tournament without too many troubles. Who knows? My characters may run away with me again and the sub-themes may rear their heads and take over for a while. They have the tendancy to do as they please rather than do as they should. At any rate, more news later if I get around to it.
