On hold

Well, some of the craftiness is on hold for a little while. While I have some yarn to begin work on Katie’s halfghan, I don’t have the right size hook for it. I have lots of crochet hooks–both steel and aluminum (as well as one wooden one)–ranging from very, very small to fairly large, but there’s a gap between the medium-sized ones and the larger ones. I have aluminum hooks C-J and larger plastic hooks M-O. No K or L. Well, I need a K to work on Katie’s blanket at least, possibly an L. Neither of which do I have. So, I’ve ordered them and I’m waiting for them to arrive. I’ve also ordered the rest of the yarn needed for Katie’s blanket (I got 1/3 of it at Wally World but they won’t have the other 2/3 for another week at least [they’d put a notice up about it]} as well as all the yarn for Tommy’s blanket, which, again, I can’t start on until I have it as well as the larger hooks because it’s the same brand of yarn as Katie’s. I have the stuff to make Simon’s but have yet to print out the pattern (whoops, forgot black ink while we were out today), and I’m holding off on making an assload of squares at the moment because I figured I’d haul them up to the Luahbaugh’s this weekend and work on them while playing DnD since they’re dumboundingly easy to make with little thought required.

Yet yesterday I still crocheted most of the day away. Working on what? Well, I had a bunch of yarn leftover from the halfghan I made Sarah, so I also made her a pillowcase. I crocheted both sides of the pillowcase yesterday starting around noon and ending around uh, midnight, I guess. That’s working off and on between watching Deadliest Catch and playing WoW, so you can see how easy the pattern is. The sad part? I began crocheting the two halves together and only got one side done before running out of yarn. How frustrating is that? Wanting to finish this, we ran to Wally World to grab another skein (a maller one) and I’ll likely finish the pillowcase today. Whee! I was thinking that if I likewise end up witn extra yarn from the other blankets I’m making, I might try making pillowcases for those people as well. Sort of a matching set, and a way to prevent me from having assloads of extra yarn all over the place (because that’s already a problem). At some point, I need to start posting pictures of these as soon as I finish them. That would require finding the camera and finding the USB cord and then editing them and then uploading them and then posting about it… Therefore, we’ll see. Until then, I think it’s time for more yarn play! Have a fun day.

Addendum: Just as I finished posting this and as I hit the submit button, we heard a knock at the door. It’s my yarn! Too bad I still have a couple days before my new hooks arrive, lol.

    Hooks:

Interesting that you need a K hook for Katie (note all the Ks). A T hook won't work for Tommy?

    Hmm…:

Lessee, the hooks appear to go up in .5mm increments, and since a K is 6.5mm, a T would logically be 11. The only thing is that the increments aren't as regular as I thought because P is 11.5mm, so T would therefore be that much bigger… I'm guessing that a T hook would be somewhere around the size of a summer sausage or vacuum cleaner hose. Probably not the best things to crochet with. 🙂 I'll stick with K.
