So far this week, I’ve meant to post about cooking, job searching, the clarinet, and the cat, and I just haven’t gotten around to it somehow. Instead, I’ve been cross stitching like crazy and watching Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Not a whole lot going on around here. Tonight I tutor, tomorrow I have Knit Wits, and this weekend is my cousin Eric’s wedding. As for the other things I was going to post about, I’ll just summarize them here:
Cooking: It’s funny that Lushbaugh mentioned breaking out the spaetzle maker I gave to him and Jamie for their wedding present because Sunday evening after the DnD group left, Ian decided he wanted chicken soup spaetzle. So I fixed some and told him about how Lushbaugh wants to make some this up-coming weekend. After that, I’d looked up a good couple dozen recipes for spaetzle and bookmarked them all with the intention of posting a bunch here on WiG because most of the people who read this have spaetzle makers that I’ve given them at some point. So maybe I’ll post those later when I remember it when I’m going through all my bookmarks.
Job searching: Meh. There are still a lot of options open, and I still have the rest of this month to find something before the up-coming school year. I won’t know for sure whether I lose my job or not until the first, so I just feel up in the air about all this anyway. The stress is not making my chronic heartburn any better, that’s for sure.
The clarinet: Mom and Dad recently gave me a clarinet because I had been talking to them about the fact that while I play five instruments (clarinet, bass clarinet, trumpet, double horn, and mellophone), I didn’t actually own any. The clarinet was Aunt Pamela’s, the bass clarinet, mellophone and double horn were the property of the school, and the trumpet was shared with Tommy. So, they got me a clarinet and so far I’ve gotten songs like “Ode to Joy” and “Mary Had a Little Lamb” down pat. I need to get a new ligature if I’m going to try playing anything more complicated. The ligature on this clarinet is bent or something so that it holds the reed on wrong meaning that it’s either letting air escape or I can’t hit the lower or upper octaves. It’s fun though, and I found some clarinet/oboe music that I told Simon we should figure out how to play together.
Kitty: Most of the time whenever I get it into my head to post about the cat, it’s generally because she won’t leave me alone in the morning when I get up. The thing is, I actually “get up” several times in the night to go to the bathroom or because Ian comes to bed or leaves bed or whatever. I wake up a lot, and every time I do, Kitty takes that as a sign that I’m conscious enough to let her climb under my covers where she proceeds to bop me with her head and pushes on me with her paws in order to keep getting attention. It’s sometimes hard to fall back to sleep with a motor revving in your ear. She’s cute, but she doesn’t understand that just because I get up to pee at three in the morning that it isn’t play time or even really cuddle time. I prefer cuddle time later in the morning when I actually am about to get up in a few minutes. Crazy cat.
So there. I’m sure there was some other stuff to update, but I can’t remember what most of it was. I’ve been dreaming a lot lately, and as a result, I haven’t been sleeping all that well, and entire mornings are lost in a haze of trying to forget the insanity of the dreams I had during the night. I need caffeine, but that would require getting up and making tea since we haven’t had soda since Simon was up. How sad. Oh well, time to check my webpages and watch more DS9.
Random:
Sucks about the ligature. I haven't been practicing the music you (gave would that be what its called…) gave to me. We have no cats. I don't have a job and my never will with the way I'm going. No spaetzle!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!….!!!!!!! Last random thing (for me) Mom was complaining about my language on your site…. ummmm yeah……
Lol:
Random Rook: I suppose you could say I "dumped" the music on you as well, lol. Go fix yourself some spaetzle, and your world will be a better place! As to swearing on the site, well, that's your decision. You already knew Mom and/or Dad would complain about it if you swore here, so go figure. :b
Wooooo hoo!:
Sweetness! We can jam out now!
Jamming?:
Did you totally miss the part in the post where I said I can only consistently hit one octave and that the current "playlist" is limited to songs like "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "Jingle Bells"? There will be no "jamming" for quite a while. I suck too much to play anything worthwhile. After all, it has been fourteen years since I played the clarinet in junior high band.
heh:
how about a totally metal cover of twinkle twinkle little star!
Pfft:
I'll play along with my sucktastic violin skills, and we can suck together.
And Mike, we need you for totally metal cowbell.
Mwahaha:
I can just imagine how horrible that would sound: eigth-grade clarinet, newb violin and an over-enthusiastic cowbell… EEEEEK!
